Default Gearing for novak 13.5ss motor in B4??

Hi, I'm new to brushless, need to know what I should gear this puppy at. I will be using 4200's for right now, but am going to get an Orion 4800 lipo for my next race. thank you

with the 13.5ss in a b4 it ran best at 81/26 for me with an ib4200, when i changed to lipo 81/26 didn't feel right, so i will be going back to 81/24 with the orion/peak 4800 lipo.

Well u can gear high on em. As much as there a 30 pinion on the 13.5ss motor. An use the stop 81 spur. With a 30 pinion u will need to change to a 78 spur as to it wont fit corrently for gear mesh. I run a 81 spur and 26 pinion. That worked for me. I had the bonded rotor in 13.5 motor.

24 seems so low. I started on 27 and had far too much bottom end and not enough top end. Ive geared it up alot, 29/81 and Im going to put a 78 spur on.

eventually the pinion just becomes too large...so I have started making the supr smaller....Kimbrough makes the gears with all the odd sizes that you don't normally see...but my shop doesn't have them in the size I want. But I'm running a Losi 76 right now with at 26 pinion...feels great!

I want to run a 75 or 74 spur sometime though with a 25 pinion....you'll have to enlarge the motor plate holes for it to fit, but you'll move the motor forward and make the car much easier to drive from a gearing throttle-band standpoint.

doubt that, you cant fit anymore then 81/26 lol 81/27 is tight

brushless is something you gear less for a temp then brushed was. even 81/26 comes off around 100 in a 5 minute run. to get it to the 160 range you would need like 78/32 lol

Its currently geared 29/81, in my B4, and it fits easily.

After a 5 minute run, with an Orion 4800, beginning of summer, motor comes off 37*C

The taller I gear it the less bottom end it has and the better it feels too.

The 13.5 can handle a wide range of pinions lets just say 23-29T. With that many that will work, it'll come down to which one feels best to you.
