Interesting it looks just allot like the Orion motors where timing is adjusted from the end bell. Still the motor is fast.

There should be no difference between the motors with the beveled edges on the endbells and the endbells that have square edges. The only difference is the removal of that corner of aluminum...which shouldn't play any part in the performance of the motor.

marcos have you run both ?

So you guys aren't paying more attention to the windings, or the inductance as the newer motors go out the door? I mean, it's not unreasonable to think that with all the competition heating up in the 13.5 segment, and with the NATS coming up, that you'd want to make sure your 13.5's were as very fast as possible.

I'm just speculating, of course, but since this comment yesterday, more than a couple of people have made the same claim to me (about the beveled motors) privately. :-)

I realize there are always gonna faster and slower motors, but it's funny how the newest "this or that" is always fastest. My good frienb Bshookup has ran the 10.5 class with a 13.5 and has always to keep pace. He may have a "faster" novak 13.5 or he may just be able to hold his mud better under stress. The SP may indeed be faster, but calling another manufacturer's motor a paper weight seems a bit ridiculous. I feel that if you put your mind to it, you could do well with whatever motor you had.--Albert

Kraig,

The 13.5 will run out the back door with any speed control, but we have had some trouble finding that magical configuration for the 10.5. This is just our findings on the carpet w/foam.

As for the Novak 13.5/10.5 motors. I have found them to have a big variance motor to motor. I have one that will run out the back door and another that will not get out of its own way.

LRP or Novak 13.5

I have both in 13.5. Observations. Both are good and very close. The LRP has a bit more brushed / drag brake feels then even the new 13mm Novak. The Novak can be geared a bit higher and temps are slightly lower then the LRP. When I run the Novak geared up to the high 4's, it didn't seem to gain much...it will take it, but the gain is not really there.

Cant say on the SP 13.5. JayBee hasn't put one up for sale yet...I'm still waiting JB.
