Default XL-5 Stampede ESC weird issue

Hey guys, I just bought an XL-5 ESC to replace my old XL-1 ESC and I set it up and it runs great. The issue I have is that every 4th or 5th time I turn it on and I hit forward the car goes in reverse and when I hit reverse it goes forward. Then I have to put it in programming mode and reset the throttle and reverse and then it works for a couple more times. Im not sure whats up.

Also, I'm heading to the LHS to buy a battery the day after Christmas - I have the XL-5 ESC and a Trinity Speed Gems 17t Pro Amber in a Stampede. I have a 15t pinion - I need to know if I should go 7cell or 8cell. Traxxas.com says I can go 8cell but I don't want to heat anything up too much...I was the most power I can get without breaking the car...I can switch the spur out to make the 8cell more realistic so im not just flipping the car all the time doing wheelies...as of now with a 7cell 5000mAh venom battery from another one of my cars it wheel stands with full throttle assuming it has traction...any recommendations?

have upgraded your tranny yet? if not you may want to look into the vxl tranny gears before running and 8 cell but you should be fine otherwise

Default ESC issue anyone?

anyone have any insight on the ESC issue above - and also an update on the battery - I chose a 8.4v 4600mAh hump pack due to some advice from my lhs guys...but the ESC issue still stands...anyone?

If you want 8 cell go for it. I got a stock stampede (with a ton of replacement parts) and it flys on an 8 cell, does wheelie stands and flips itself over with some traction. Is it just me or does traxxas go thru parts like no other

The sidewinder is a better update to mamba.

Default used...

Used vs new in a brushless setup - what things could be bad with a used setup - like with brushed motors most likely I would have to swap out the brushes and springs but for brushless is their anything like that I would have to worry about?

im new to brushless but from my understanding as long as the setup has heat protection (shuts off when it gets to hot) yoou really cant damage them other than physical damage you can cause by scratchiing/denting etc, or getting the esc wet

Default HPI...

I saw this video for the Savage Flux brushless and it looks sick...would that system be a better system then the mamba max or mamba sidewinder for the stampede?
