ABS vs. nylon wheels?

ABS vs. nylon wheels?
Just found out the hard way that you can't boil Yokomo's ABS wheels to get the tires off the rims
Which begs the question......is there any difference, performance-wise, between the ABS and nylon? Given that acetone is supposed to soften plastic, I see no other *safe* way of removing the rubber from ABS rims.
I did a search, but most of the posts were pretty old, so I'm wondering if opinions have changed since '03....

i found this out too with yoke rims. also found acetone turns the rims into a soft slurry as well

You can buy various CA removers that 'shouldn't' melt your wheels, not sure where you would buy it from though, I bought some from my LHS and it worked well

Only problem with CA removers is that they don't "penetrate"; if you've got rubber glued in the grooves of the wheels, this can be a time-consuming process
(Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but I'm getting ready to buy some wheels, and would like to know if anyone has a foolproof way of doing this without trashing the ABS "super precision" wheel)
