otoh.. Yoks and the others are probably cheaper to buy - don't know, I seldom look.

Tamiya charges a premium for TRF gear - because they can. Once you get hooked on the Stars... its an expensive addiction.
So you don't like the alex cars because of how they look? To me the quality is up there with the best kits available and i've built/seen quite a bit. It was one of the cars hpi looked at when designing the pro 4 and it's popularity is huge in japan. Just my opinons though, i try to be as objective as i can.

They said CGM is great for carpet since its stiff.. i think??

Anyways i would like graphite on my car, and that CGM looks like a TC3.

Heres my opinion
Pro4- 5/5
Yok SD SSG- 4.7/5
--w/Rayspeed Conversion 5/5
--CGM conversion- 3.7.5
TB- 4/5 (expensive)
R3- 4/5
TC3- 3.5/5

The CGM is the stiffest of the SD's. Followed by the SSG/Black then finally the rayspeed. If u want to race carpet get the CGM (or if ur on a tighter budget) if u run asphalt, RS.

Hi Guys,

Xenon Racing who makes the gears for the Pro 4 has made a prototype of the Evo 3 one way gear. I am in the midst of testing it and will let you guys know the result of that.

With proper shiming and the backing plate the Evo 3 should be a real killer.

The balance of the car is the closest to the Pro 4 among all the shaft drive cars and aside of the front one way gear it is probably the most bullet proof of all shaft drive cars.

Cheers

BTW i have the yokomo/black special and i have driven both the pro4 and cuda R2/R3

1. Yokomo SD (SSG, Black Version)
2. Tamiya TB Evo III Surikarn Edition

WHICH?
Mugen.. got a EvoIII Surikarn for sale.. a TON of spares too.. about 4 extra one way gears.. graphite backing plate.. PM me if your interested

both cars are very good. in my opinion.. drive both cars if there are people at your track that have them..and see what you like. you cant beat tamiya tho when it comes to durability. AND you can run TCS races if they have them where you're at.

ive had an SD..and i currently have the Tamiya EvoIII SE.. and the prices are relatively close.. like one or two dollars difference in both directions. tamiya might be more for one part.. but then cheaper in another. know what i mean?
