shoot me an email as to when this is starting and i'll try and make it up there with a couple of the guys so you get some competition from down here!
we use the imrca classification for the cars.
i have the chassis pictured but he is sending me a six cell side by side chassis for the 2/3 aa batteries. that chassis is looking sweet!
for who ever is intrested for $35.00 dollars you can have one!

Powell Racing Components is proud to introduce 2 new parts for the Xray M18.
The first is the Six Shooter chassis. The Six Shooter is designed to use 6 2/3AA cells in a side by side configuration and includes a carbon fiber battery hold down brace. The 2mm S.S. chassis is 17% lighter than stock and considerably stiffer.
The second part is a carbon fiber drive shaft to replace the stock aluminum piece. The carbon fiber drive shaft is half the weight of the stock shaft. The combination of the Six Shooter chassis and CF
driveshaft will reduce the weight of your car by 8 grams. Combine that with the reduced weight of using 2/3AA cells and you've just lost 45 grams!! That is over 1 1/2 ounces. Losing 1 1/2 ounces on any RC car is significant, but on a 1/18 scale car, it is HUGE!!
Stay tuned because we're not done yet. We have more parts in the works to be revealed very soon for this incredible little car.
E-mail or PM for more information.

The new chassis looks great!! I really like the idea of the carbon drive shaft. Great idea!!
I have considered trying the 2/3 AA cells but I was told they wouldn't last long enough when racing certain motors. How much run time do you get with these cells and a Speed 300 (big block) type motor?

bobby z i drive for doug i have been experimenting with different types of cells and have come to the conclusion that the 2/3 aa kans or cbp cells are perfect even though they are only 650 mah's they make over 10 to 12 minutes of run time befor slowing down and loosing punch !
at my local track we follow the imrca rules and we run 8 minute heats and i have no problems making run time i have tried dumping and cant ( driving extremely agressive with the throttle) good luck.

bobby we run the imrca rules!
it allows for guys running stock motors to run six cells i run an orion micro stock!
and if you run a mod like the corless you have to run five cell i get about 12 minutes of runtime regardless of the motor, pluss we race qualifiers and mains for 8 minutes! look below here is a pick of the car!

I will have to suggest that we start to follow those rules as well. I'm trying to decide if I want to attempt starting up a club in this area as most of the racing won't be held again until the fall.
Regardless I think that the 5 cell mod or 6 cell stock would be a good compromise. Unfortunately the club I was racing at was not following those rules and was doing 5 or 6 cell modified with Speed 300 motors.
