Kilruf,

hey, a win is a win. was going to take the kid to the tacoma dome to watch the highschool playoffs. but at the last minute he decided he didn't want to go. so i wasted a day doing nothing, well not completely. was working on a new battery strap to hold the batts from moving around. didn't quite work out. YET. had to work o.t. today and going to the bay area next weekend so no racing for a while. we'll get together when i get back. and put the world cars together.

I'm sure there's a flaw here somewhere.....

If you put lighter weight drivetrain parts in your car it will accelerate faster because the motor doesn't have to work as hard to get it going (was thinking of getting some Tobee parts).

BUT if your car in under weight anyway then any advantage would be negated by the weight you have to add to make it legal surely?

A car which has a lighter drivetrain ( lower moment of inertia) will accelerate faster than a car with the same overall weight but with a heavier drivetrain.
In theory both are supposed to have the same top-speed.

A heavier drivetrain makes the car more difficult to spool up the drivetrain ( to accelerate) but a lighter drivetrain will spool much faster.

In retrospect:
A car with heavier drivetrain will coast longer than a car with lighter drivetrain because the increased moment will reduce the change in angular momentum (spin)

I wish I've known that the RS springs work optimally with the longer SS shock bodies 'cause I was having ahelluva time last night setting my ride height & droop.

Yeah, with the RS springs you have two choices to be able to use them. first is using the RS spring cups, second is using AE shock cups and using a ball cup for the shock end.

Forty6, I have spare bones. What part do you want me to measure? I was gonna toss the bones on my 415 with HPI Pro4 spindles and axles. I wasn't planning on using my Yokomo til next year for asphalt season. Right now it's all carpet. So I'm using my Evo IV and TC4. I would use the Yokomo. But their suspension mounts sit too high.

Matt:

Any advantages of using the RS springs over the std Yok springs with the SS shocks.
I know the RS are longer.

Thanx Matt, for right now I went back to the Yoke springs, but I switched to the AE shock ends w/ the balls too 'cause my Yoke shock ends were shot. Just curious though, with the RS spring cups, is it a nice fit with the std. Yoke shock ends? The other problem that I'm running into is that since both frt./rear shock towers are the same, some of my bodies (my alpha 156 especially) don't fit correctly; maybe that's why RS came out with the new geometry ones huh? However, Matt do you have any set-up tips for a smediumish-technical carpet track? In stock, nearly everyone is strictly running Take-offs 27's.
THANX
