What brushes have been working well with the CO27?
Also it seems I need to add about two teeth over my old epic x.

I only came up with this on my search, a TC guy. "very good success running
F Brush + / 767 - with Purple+ Red- springs"

Socal guys please chime in, for sure on the gearing.

On my T4 I have been running the 99+ brushes with red springs on both sides on the CO27.
Gearing is at 19/87 for a decent sized track.

I read on the late Big Jim motors board that 767+/766- brush combo was a good torque/rpm setup for stock motors. It also is supposed to be mild on the comm. In the spirit of my last thread "poor mans racing" the easy wear characteristics are important to me. Has anybody tried this combo yet?

This on a C027, in a MF2. So far I have settled on 18/86 for the gearing, though I'm still exploring that one a bit.

OK, Last night I after a quick comm cut, I installed a 4499 on the positive side, and a 767 on the negative. It ran quite well. I will say that a 5 minute run is about where I'd stop. The C027 got a bit warmer than I'm used to.
Could the fact that the brushes are not aligned so well increase the heat?

I also have bumped up to 19/86 gearing, which gave me better lap times for sure. I'm sure that raised the temps a bit

On my T4, i run the stock 87 spur with an 18 pinion, 767 brushes with a red spring on the positive and green on the negative, and the motor doesn't even warm up all that much. I also run the CO27 in my TC4, but with the F brushes instead and purple springs, which gives the car a really good launch off of the corners. On that car i run a 100 tooth 64 pitch gear with a 33 tooth pinion, giving a 7.5 final drive ratio.

My C027 came with Purple+/Green- and 4499's. That seems whacked to me. I'm going to try a little red/green, or red/red. Think that will bring up top speed?

The 767 is supposed to have a higher graphite content than a 4499 supposedly lubing the comm a bit. Anybody think this is right/wrong?

I have used 766 on the positive, drill a 1/16th hole in the center of the brush face. 767 or 4499 on the negative. Make sure the 766 is fully seated which takes a while since it is full face. Red+/Red-. Sometimes Purple+/Red- in when it's a tight track.

Gearing will depend on the track, but for me on a short/tight track I run 16/86 on an MF1 which is about 1 pinion tooth lower than what you would run on a MF2.

With this setup I've run full 7 min mains, then killed the rest of a 4200 pack and the motor comes of very cool, and with like NO comm wear. I could probably gear up, but there is no reason to as this will run with the Novak "stock" brushless motors, and one lipo/Novak stock brushless setup. Insane power!

took my co27 out of my car after buying it and racing last night..

i ran 81/24 in my t4 on a carpet oval with cooper's foams (closest to standard sized offroad tires) motor was at a good temp when i pulled off after the 5 minute race and killing most of my 3300 (had about 700 mah left after - 5 minute race usually have about 1200 left in them, checked with an indi 16x9)

just noticed it came with purple+/purple- and E brushes.

just tossed a red-/purple+ in there and going to leave the gearing the same, see how it is the next race night, also going from the orion core to the trinity co27 i gained alot of push

a local fast guy (b-main in production mt @ crcrc) runs a monster stock in his t3 with a rollout of 8.76, while 81/24 gives me 8.775 as a rollout in my t4
