I run mine without a servo saver and never had a issue with it. But now my 10 year olds using it I might go back to one.

I have a Sakura Zero version 2 Vertical mount and a pair of 96 tooth sour gears for sale.

Sakura Zero S Turnigy TD10 parts

With the vertical mount you can go as high a a 51 tooth pinion with the 96 tooth spur gear.

What type of surface do you race on? carpet or asphalt? and what type of tires do you use? foam or rubber and what brand/compound?

Been searching for a while. Looking for a good pinion/spur matchup w/ a 17.5T motor on a sakura XI Sport. There aren't many folk over there, so thought I'd ask here. Internal Gear ratio is 2.0, looks like the Zero S is 1.9 by some accounts and 2.0 by others. Will be running carpet, but not racing, just going on practice nights, unless my schedule changes. Don't know track layout as it's a new track. Also, can't really ask anyone there because it doesn't exits. Just want to order a different spur with the car if necessary...

The XI Sport is 2.0 internal gear ratio. For 17.5 you should be in the low 4's FDR. Do you run 48p gears or 64p?

Just ordered the kit, so this is all theoretical. But FDR should be 4.0 for 17.5? I was thinking between 3-4 for 21.5T and more like 6.0 for 17.5T? I'm just going off what little I was able to scratch up and understand.

I'm going to run 48p, the XI S comes with 85T and I ordered an 80T. I'm hoping to find a pinion that will work. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Did more research, you guys know your stuff. I'll be trying a 71/35 for an FDR of 4.0X w/ a Turnigy Trackstar 17.5T and HK Xrun 45A. By "boosted", I'm assuming timing? This ESC offers timing and launch parameters, but no turbo function. I wont be racing, unless race nights are nights I'm free. Just looking for a setup that will get me close to what others are running and maybe let me be competitive at an intermediate level. Am I on the right track?

I also have the kit supplied 85T and an 80T spur coming - ordered 30 and 35T pinions. Also have a 24T pinion laying around, which with 71T spur will get me 5.92 FDR.

I've been running both a xi and a sport over a year now and I've learned that first and foremost check your belts, too tight and they will act like brakes and bring your rear around when you let off in a turn. Second, loosen they rear, lay the shocks quite a bit and tighten up front on the shocks, tightening up front prevents your front end from dipping when your in a braking situation or when you let off the trigger. Third and maybe most important is your car must be like a wet noodle and by that I mean no parts must bind what so ever and some items maybe loosened a bit to allow twisting and tweaking of your chassis. I can garruanty that I spent almost a whole year trying out a lot of variations of suggestions but this is what happen to me at the end of this years journey. Remember think wet noodle and try afore mention and you will start gaining power at the rear end and don't be afraid to do a stiffen the front. Also 40 weight on all shocks helps a lot. And it works on both asphalt and carpet.

I'm curious, about what you mean..."tighten up the front." Shocks-up...down...tighten-up the spring tension...stiffer spring rates?????
