I agree an electric truck will perform slightly better than a similar nitro truck, but, it will not be a substantial enough increase in performance to make electric 4wd 1/10 stadium trucks a sales or racing success where nitro 4wd 1/10 stadium trucks has never really caught on.
And this is just me personally - I would prefer electric stay 2wd because that's what I like to drive the most. If 4wd 1/10 electric truck takes off, that will be pretty much the end of all 2wd racing.

If 4wd was the answer to electric making a comback in a big way, I have no problem having to make a sacrifice on the 2wd classes.
As for the whole cost thing on 1/8 scale, I havent' seen alot of guys smoking there high dollar servos, and usually the best ones are used for the steering at a minimum.
How was the breakage in the 20 minute mains at the nats?
If this becomes the norm, vehicles will need to be designed to handle the rigors of that level of racing. Sort of how 1/8 scale buggies are really built to be durable.

9 trucks out of 13 made the full 20 minutes.

The only two drivers on the same lap were 5th and 6th place and they were seperated by 12 seconds. Could not have been too exciting for a spectator with everybody on seperate laps. Still some people wonder why R/C racing isn't on TV.

I think it's size will make it like the Mini T fad, and it will be over be for you know it.
I really don't like anything smaller than a 1/10 to drive or work on .
I guess it's the fact that I'm getting old and can't see very good any more.
I would really like to have a 1/10 4wd truck that would be as tough and durable as a 1/8 with wet diffs that you could run gas or electric.
I wounder how hard it would be to enlarge the CRT to a 1/10 scale ?
I've always thought a 1/10 4wd truck would be great for racing, on 10th scale track, and definitely better than a 1/10 2wh on an 1/8 track .
Were I live in AZ. we have had one of the best 10th scale tracks (SRS) in the county, and now we have a huge 1/8 scale track (The nitro pit) which is also considered one of the best .
I have an 1/8 th scale and have raced it there and it is a lot of fun.
But I still enjoy racing 1/10 electric on a 10th scale track .
Electric truck is the first classes that I started racing , and still my favorite .
On a weekly basis it's the most popular and competitive class at SRS.
Me and my friend have been trying to get a BL/ Lipo class going at SRS.
I agree with Craps about all the Pros. to 1/10, a lot cheaper and easier. than 1/8.
The other things I like about Electric is, it's quieter ,calmer and you don't have to rely on some one else to pit for you.
Don't get me wrong I still enjoy gas 1/8 as well.

Hey why not build a 1/16, 1/12 and 1/6 scale while you're at it. Might as well run 20 classes with 2-3 racers that way everyone can say I finished in the top 3.

I agree I think there are to many classes , I wish that every one could just pick the two most popular classes, and race those.

Craps, on running the associated QC conversion, maybe the TC3/4 C-hubs and knuckles and rear carriers could be adapted to fit the MRC. I'm not sure which way the CVD's go in an MRC but its possible.
Cain or Davey G (whichever mentioned the conversion), I got a sb v2 pro waiting to be assembled. If you did the conversion, I'd get it as quick as i can. My local track has not got many rules and that would be the perfect weapon, for my slick track

4wd 1/10th scale Truck would be easy drive. Brushless system would make it low maintence and li-pos will give them the run time.
Nothing against the MRC Academy conversion, but Hot Bodies has a well built metal chassis slipper clutch gas model with drive shafts for $214 from "A" Main Hobbies that could be converted very easy.
It is RTR complete with gas motor and radio that could be sold to the gas heads to get some of your money back.
$214 for the Hot Bodies Lightning 10 Stadium Truck and it uses 1/10th scale truck tires. The truck is very durable too.
I have driven a gas one of these and it was a blast. Very easy to drive and will be even better after it is electrified.

You forgot a point to your market to the masses....
5. make it cheap/affordable
Unfortunatly, a $350 T44, $200 brushless system, and $60 lipo battery is not cheap. And thats still missing radio, radio batteries, charger.

$610 is cheap...I am going to add another $60 for an 8000 mah li-po to total $670 for a quality race piece with long runtime and low maintence. Lot cheaper than have $1,500 to $2,000 in an 1/8th scale or truggy!

$235 for a Novak GTB with 5.5 or 4.5 motor
$130 for a 8000 mah MaxAmps battery
$579 total
May need a little money added for some type of motor mount or use and old 1/10th scale cut to fit and adapted. May need to buy the type of gear pinion needed for it.
You can always sell the RTR gas motor new unused, R/X and Radio that comes with it. $50 to $100 back out of it to get it close to a $500 brand new truck.
I think I might order 2 of them.
