If the track is dry red compound would probably be better. If they wear too fast silver might be a better choice.Losi has been making some tires in a new white compound. It is supposed to be grip of the red and wear of the silver.

Red T Bones are by far my favorite tire. They work almost everywhere in the carolinas.

Today I tried x2000 in pink and Blockheads in red up front. The rear is alright, not stuck but not sliding all over the place either. The track is dry, swept and hard packed.Little bit of dust.Looking at the Bk bars, these look like these maybe the ticket for this condition.Anyone have experience with these in this type of condition and what compound should I try?
On that type of surface I think sometimes the compound makes a bigger difference than tread. Theres a track around here that I run the same lap times with red tapers, x-2 and x-3 with red fronts. Finding the *right* tire is kind of difficult without actually being on the track.

Awesome info guys.
Will a Losi tire work with a proline rear wheel?I was trying to mount some BK bars
on some velocity b4 wheels and found them to be an awkward fit.Do you need to modify the bead or something?Any suggestions are appreciated.
Btw, with more testing done today,we have found the panther Switch 2.0 rears with Bomb 1 inserts have been the best so far for our surface.Dry and swept. The Bk bars in pink are a close second.Anyone run Bomb1 inserts in Bk bars?

where did you find pink BK bars????? those are so dialed at my track but they haven't been in production for like..at least 4-5 years.
Losi tires have a wider bead than proline tires, and the rims fit for their respective counterparts (losi tires to rims, proline tires to rims). They aren't exactly the same. Trimming the losi bead a little bit (cut about a third off) lets them sit right on the proline rim.

I did some testing tonight running cut ofna orange and yellow foams in pink taper pins. So far they are awsome no more bomb1's for me. I glued them up using spray adhesive, CA, contact cement. They all seem to hold exellent but the contact cement made the best seam with no hard line from the glue. The ofna orange were the best at my track and are very similar to grey foams. These foams work great in the taper pin but do not fill out most proline tires.

It is such a black art!
I agree with the comment about compounds: find the right compound and you are 60% there. Finding the right tread-pattern is mostly based on experience. Different tyres work for different driving styles. I hate x3's for example because they seem to have no side-bite. Friends of mine swear by them and buy them in bulk.
My favorite of all time are red pins, but they don't last long...

A buddy of mine ran the orange Ofna foams with pink tapers once and they worked really good, but the foam came unglued and bunched up in the tire.
maybe gluing the foams to the rims would fix that.... I don't know for sure what glue he used on the foams.
