Checked the bearings before disassembly and smooth as butter. Pulled one side apart very carefully, spun the bearings to double check they're free...good, swapped ackerman inserts to the 2/4, put it all back together without yet putting the screw in the axle and boom..same bearings start binding....WTF? Well crap, change the bearings out to new and back to smooth. Half set of bearings toast again.

Did the other side and boom...binding bearings and i'm out of spare bearings...

There's something with the inserts not being perfectly inline thus the axle sits cocked a bit causing uneven wear in the bearings eventually.

And how the....bleep does this happen? Sheered off the inner lip of a "hard" insert on one side...

my kit breaking are still smooth after 4 weeks. I am using the +3 trailing with stock plastics. So i dunno what is going with yours. Some guys say the schelle or avid bearing hold up well

My bearings have felt gritty when built since day one. It's very frustrating. Pull it apart and it's smooth in my hands, put it together, feels gritty. Bearing isn't toast but it feels that way installed.

Some people have the problem, some don't, some change to the 3 insert and it's gone, some it gets worse lol. Another guy bought different bearings, problem solved. Who knows.

It bothers my OCD to no f***ing end!!! But it doesn't stop me from winning races

Quick tip for anyone using the 3x8mm set screws in the front caster blocks (which eliminates most of the slop): those little screws strip VERY easily so don't over-tighten and back them out very carefully. If they strip you'll never get that caster block off the hinge pin in one piece. You'll be hacking away at it with the Dremel like I just did.

I was thinking that also.. May want to run a longer SS steel 3mm screw or 3mm tap to tap the those holes.

SS is softer. That only makes the issue worse. But tapping it would be good

Good tip...you can use one of the longer M3 BHCS screws from the kit to thread the holes first.

I currently race a schumacher KF and have always had a B5m in the back of my head. From the guys that race what have you seen comparing the two and would it be an "upgrade" to switch? I run on indoor ozite offroad track.
