Anyone know where to get Alpha bodies in the USA? Specifically the R3.

Bruckner only has the R1 listed and IGT is out of stock on all of them.

Default Hudy Set-up Tool Set for DM-1?

I know this is an on road car, but it is buggy based. Anyone using a set-up tool set for these? Do I need 1/8 off road or 1/8 on road set? Thx

Info for you DM-1 racers out there.

I have done a lot of travelling and racing this summer for GT8 only or mixed nitro events. I have found some more speed in the car with some chassis tunning. I've had help from Bill Sydor who was running the DM1 up to the Joliet race this summer, then switched to Serpent. At the Sweep race at Floyd Bennett Raceway labor day weekend, he .... well Sweeped the field.

In practice Saturday he turned 17.2's to 17.4's in his car. I handed him my radio and with in a few laps 17.2"s and 17.3"s lap times came out of my DM-1.

The same chassis set up and parts were on a back up car that I loaned to a long time racer, that had not run nitro for 2-3 years. He missed TQ of the Sportsman Class by 0.10 on 5 min, but was able to take win. Great result the first time out with the car.

So, parts will be available shortly through Darkside Motorsports (not for a few weeks) but if you are interested, send me a PM here on RC Tech.

Parts include - shock tower front and rear that use the front shocks on both ends, roll center change to the gear boxes and a new front bumper that fits the McLaren body in my avatar. I am working on other items, but if you think the DM-1 is slow to any other car out there, think again.

I don't have a GT8 yet but i am in the market for one. Aside from the front and rear shock towers, what other upgrades/mods have you done to your DM 1?

Thanks

This is the flyer for our next race. It will be a Endurance race of 3 hours with each team having 3 drivers. They will each be required to race for at least 1 hour each. A maximum of 3 cars are allowed per team.

For the Kyosho guys I'm using the vs058 clutch bell with 15/18 or 17/20 and I keep stripping 1st gear on the 008 two speed, is this because I should be using the evolva trans and gears ?

I have the VS058 on my car and I use Evolva gears and I have not stripped a spur gear ever. Note - I am using a Blackhawk transmission (made from Evolva gears - this is no longer available).

One thing that may be contributing to you stripping gears is misalignment. Gear mesh is very important but also you need to have as much of the pinion aligned and in full contact with the spur so that you get 100% contact or as close as you can get.

I had to do a lot of shimming when I went to the VS058 and I had to put a spacer between 1st and 2nd gear pinions in order get a good full gear to gear alignment.

Ok that's what I'm thinking to change to evolva gears I'm using the 008 trans could that be the issue? I'm asking?
If I switch to evolva gears I need what? The one way piece and gears n 2 speed clutch shoes? Which I have, can I use the stock or 008 shaft??
