Roger,
What are you doing lurkin' over here?[hehe]
Like mentioned, the Evolva only has the 7-2 with the car and there is the optional 7-0. I do not find this setting to be that big of a deal really. Think about when we were running the MRX-3. Everybody went to B-D and that worked for pretty much every track. We all tried the A-C setting and only a few could ever do well with it so it was scrapped. I am not convinced that adjustable roll center for the hinge pinds is that big of a deal in an 1/8 scale car. OTOH, playing with roll center with upright shimming is quite useful.
As for the conical (correct spelling), it gives you plenty more top end and still has pretty good grunt down low. The sacrifice though... poor fuel mileage. There is not as much of a bend in the conical header and there is not as much fuel reused on the scavenge cycle. Instead it just blows it straight out the pipe. I get 4:20-4:30 out of my motor currently but it is plenty fast.

Kind of off-topic, but I figure that many of you have probably owned the previous version of this car....how is parts support for the Fantom? The reason I ask is that once Kyosho comes out with a new version, I want to be sure I can still get parts. Also, with the Delta car using the Evolva's plastics, I'm afraid that Kyosho might be working on something new before the Worlds.
Someone please assure me that I'm making the right decision

Solid Axle
Has anyone found significant wear in the rear solid axle of the Evolva.
My car was behaving in a very unpredictable manner over the weekend and afterwards I tore it apart and found that the rear solid was eaten away.

I had the same problem. The spool and the outside axle notched and caused the rear suspension to lock up under power.

The Evolva is way more popular here in the US than the Fantom ever was so I don't see parts support being a problem in the future.

Chris,
Thanks for the reply. I really like the car, it's just that I'm checking Tower's site, and they list very few parts for the Fantom, and given that Kyosho seems to change models almost every year, I'm afraid that I'll end up with a $580 paperweight in a year.
I'm hoping to be out at Revelation next month to set up my 710 and 950...are you usually out there?
