lipo balancing help
I just got my MaxAmps 3s lipo pack. but it is balanced weird. one cell is syaing it is way mroe charged then the others and needs discharging, one battery is saying it doesnt need much but could stand a little, and the other is saying it is below voltage level and shouldnt be discharged. whats going on here? im confused and really dont want to mess up this battery. any help would be great

I'm assuming you don't have a balancer. Are you measuring voltage of each cell at the tap connector?
If they are different voltages... I guess I would charge the pack until it's close to 12.6 (or until one of the cells hits 4.2), then finish off the charge of each cell individually. (You can charge them through the tap one at a time.)
It's easier of course to just let a balancer do it... which bleeds some voltage from the high cells or automatically regulates during charging.

its my balancer that is showing i shouldnt discharge it anymore. it is saying that i shouldnt keep trickling charge because one is too low. should i just let it go and it will balance itself out?

Oh, I gotcha. If the pack is dumped, then the balancer may be smart enough to not do it's job (by discharging the other cells to match the lowest one).
You should just put some charge into the pack... then balance it.
It's ok to charge the pack as long as none of the cells goes beyond 4.2v... and if the pack is dead that won't be an issue.

yeah well i had charged it and went to balance it after a run and thats what it was showing... i didnt even completely drain the battery...

thanks man ill give it a try. and is it safe to keep the batteries charged without using them? store them charged? or will that damage them?

You can store them fully charged, yes.
But for long term storage (like over the winter, etc) it's best to store them with a 50% charge.
