That's just way too low of a gear for a stock motor. It's probably getting up to it's full RPM less than halfway down the straight. Give me an idea of the size of the track. 100 foot back straight? 60 foot? What motor is that Fantom based off (Monster, CO27, etc...) Try going up 3 teeth at least. I think you'll be surprised.
16 x 8 meters its not particuarly big which i why im so low and its based of the monster yeah

Not much smaller than SoCal and the stock guys run 7.0 gear there. I really think you'll be surprised if you try gearing up a little. Also, how are you maintaining the motor. Does it need a cut and re-brush? I'm not sure how many runs guys are getting on brushes in stock now.
i have just added new brushes i tend to find that skimmin it tends to not make a diiference sometimes may be it it needs a skim but if i did got up wat pinion size would you sugest

I'd cut the motor, put new brushes on it, and go up to at least a 21 tooth pinion. You should notice a significant increase in power.
cheers i will give it a try that will ahve to wait till next week thnaks for you tips.

Darren
I have a bmi bottom deck and I installed a battery strap and trying to install 3800s and they are to wide. Has anyone been able to do this?

aus: RW makes a very good spur gear and they're about as thin as I would want to go.
roadrash: The original BMI chassis was cut for 3300's. Also there are different battery straps from the 3300 era to the larger cells. How old are your chassis and strap?

Just thought I'd post up a pic of my cars as they are.
The one on the left is my SoCal car. EC Foam Spec with the new EA Motorsports KD19 turn motor ready for the Jimmy Babcock points series opener.
The car on the right is my outdoor car. Pretty much a bone stock EC Rubber Spec. This will probably be the car I'll run at the Reedy race.
