Underdahill-your rollout looks fine-if not a tad too low (try a 38 pinion for the Reedy). ON the Reedy Quad you can try 766 brushes. They are easier on the comm. Isnt the timing locked on the Reedy Quad? I think Barry Baker said they were running a cross cut on the pos and a slot on the neg. with 766's at the Reedy Race.
On the Chameleon-try Trinity E's or Putnam Green pos and Blue Negative with Purple pos and red neg spring. Gear it to the moon and replace brushes every two or three runs.
Basically on 19turns run em hard and they will be fast-but they will eat-up brushes!!!
If your shimming to armature correctly and aligning brush hoods-your 90% of the way to kller motors-good job!! The rest is black magic-mon!!

Ah...black magic. I need to get the LHS to start stocking live chickens for sacrifices.
What is a cross cut as apposed to a slot? Guess I'll have to get my dremel out .
My LHS doesn't stock the putnam brushes. The Reedy Quad is locked but since our track is currently an open 19t track I trimmed the tab so I could advance the timing. I'll put it at 24º and try that brush setup.
Trinity E on pos but what on the negative?
With the 36º, 767, and 37/100 I got the + brush to turn 100% grey after 3 runs on the Reedy Quad. I'm guessing that is to tall a gearing witht he 36º timing. I'll try 38 or 39 with the 24º timing and 766's.
What do you gear your Chameleon's at on your tc3?

Run trinity e's on pos and neg. Cross cut is just a + on the face of the brush. Putnam brushes are expensive anyways-so no biggie.
I cannot divulge my rollout on the C2's hahaha Lets just say its bigggg.

How thick is the billet before you start? 1 1/2"? That's a lot of chips to clean up Do you have any problem keeping the nose flat? The only problem with a one piece design is if you bugger up the threads you need a whole new chassis.
Very nice quality looking piece!

hey buddy, glad to see a fellow machinist up here.the chassis starts out 1" thick.i remove the skin of the material first before machining to remove the stress in the material.by the time i dig it out from under the big pile of chips, out comes a chassis that is flat within .002.if the holes get stript out, customers can always send em back for repair.thank god for helicoils.
thanks for the nice comments buddy.

LOL!! I've used a few helicoils in my time. Nothing 4-40 though. I used to run one piece Aluminum suspension arms for a Custom Car builder. I had a Cincinnatti with a 20X40 table. We ran one left and on right hand part at the same time. I had to dig out the chips after EVERY run because my employer was too cheap to buy a chip conveyor. Aluminum is nice to machine but a bitch to clean up. I could never keep my coolant fresh when running aluminum either. Steel would be fine, but aluminum would turn it rancid quick.

rancid cooloant.i hate when it gets like that.smells like a pair of dirty socks.
i have 3 HAAS CNC millers,1 is 40x20,1 is 50x30,and 1 is 15x30.i have a 20x40 Fadal miller,1 daewoo puma 150g high speed CNC lathe with a 12ft Iemca barfeeder, and 1 Haas cnc lathe.we have a full conventional milling and turning section of the shop and also we have a full production sheetmetal shop with full CNC setup.Punching and bending both CNC.here is a pic of some stuff we do.

Hey Jason anything on that surprise you told me about. Are you going to make a chassis that will work on both the versions or the car?
