Default CS-27.W

Hello Guys

Today i received set of take off tires CS27. On every tire at one side there is inscription "TAKE OFF" and "MADE IN JAPAN" but on the other side there is "CS-27.W". Do you have any idea what this ".W" mean?

Default Tyre

Hi,

The W means the 2004 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS they ordered to many specialy made tyres and Take Off took them back so they now r selling them as a normal TakeOff Tyre. Must be good Tyres Marc Rhienhard WON THE WORLDS WITH THEM!

It's part form the batch Take Off built for the Worlds (handout tire). The W means worlds.
Don't worry it's the same tire.

From what I understand, before the worlds they tried to make a tyre that did not get the groove down the inside of the tyre, and the CS-27W had solved that problem. That's just speculation but at my LHS, they said that they've had many customers say that they don't get the groove on the inside with this type of tyre.

The other difference (which I know FOR SURE) is that they have a different tag. Well.... mine did anyway.

This was not the case at all. IFMAR requires a marking on the tire for the worlds. Take Off produced a mold with the required "W" and it is now being used for standard production

the worlds tires come in a 4 pack without inserts. The non worlds come in pairs with inserts.

Paul - No problems. It was just speculation but thanks for clearing that up.

Joel - I bought my most recent Take Off CS27 tyres WITH inserts in the pairs, and it was the CS27W tyre.

The CS27 are sold as 4 pack without inserts or 2 pack with inserts since a long time. That has nothing to do with the W-batch.

Oh i see the problem you use "TYRES" and i use "TIRES"!

Just jokes.

Take-off has been making running changes for years now, so its really hard to keep up. When the 4 pack first came out they where labled as the worlds handout tires. Later we could get pairs with inserts...

I remember the first tires we used were WSA WSB WSC compounds....

Itīs at least 2 years ago when I bought the 4 packs the first time. It was way before the CS27. batch. I think I still have one pack left what is the CS27 without any . or W and itīs from the batch with the small font size.

Often wondered the same thing, my question is what is the diff. between a CS27 GLR, GL, and GLW? I did notice that one of them is about $5 more a set.

No diffrence. In May 2004 TakeOff raised prices so we went up $5 on the premounts...thats it.
