Default What happened to Team Durango??

Any info on why their company has been quiet for what seems like a month or more? Their nitro buggy and truggy seem to have died off. Not sure why, they had a solid setup going for them I thought?

Most think their focus is shifting, and they are phasing out 1/8.

Not to mention the last post on their FB is from October!

They got rid of all pro drivers a couple of years ago, and I think there aren't any team drivers left either.

It seems that they weren't "serious about racing" after all.

The Dingo DNX8 was a very impressive car on many fronts, but that was because of guys like Simonini and Lutz. The administration it seems couldn't find their own a$$ with both hands and a flashlight, because they had great talent working for them, yet managed to lose it all and run the brand into the ground.

I wasn't impressed with my dnx408. I've had RTR's that drove better. thing looked impressive and was tough as nails but didn't jump all that great. tracks without jumps it did pretty good.

The local electric scene in my area still has some die hard Durango fans, but no one runs their 1/8th scale cars. I don't see Durango lasting very long and just going belly up. They have no big name team drivers, no advertising going on, and no 1/8th scale platform really. Their cars were interesting...

I don't really care either way, but it is kind of a shame that the success of an RC car company is perceived to revolve around having "big name" successful pro racers. If I were to get a new RC car it would be an Arrma. And for a nitro racer a Tekno. I couldn't care less who drives what. Tekno are meant to be good and tough - you can read it in the forums. I don't give a rat's axx what the pros do.

A lot of people do though. What wins on Sunday sells on Monday probably holds up to a certain extent.

Looks like theyre focusing on their 1/10 range. Also the fact they released a 1/8 line based off rtrs with hop ups, they dissolved their team and made a statement they would help grass roots racers. Which they still failed to do. Parts support is horrible at best.

The perception, sure. But the reality? BS if you think what DRIVER X drives will make you faster. At least for the vast, vast majority of people.

The Durango 8th scale buggy did look good but I have never seen one at the track. Going into nitro I wouldn't go near a Tekno, chassis is too narrow imo. Get a X-ray 👌

+1 - They seem to have a ton of financial capital but can never seem to make good decisions other than hitting the market at the absolute best time with Axial and Futaba having a good backing.

It's amazing how well Axial has done despite having terrible quality.
