LSD as in a subtle mix of shoe-goo and blu-tak?
hey don't laff, it works.
aye man no worries. but yea, just for the things like that with the slipper clutches on the old buggies. i said my LSD was on a rc car. so yea. im in no fault right?

so you got a LSD on your car too? you just used shoe-goo and blu-tak? what about the ballbearings kept in the diff, did you keep them there or did you take it out?

i have been drifting my hpi rs4 2 for a while now but i am doing a .28 conversion on it for fun because i am bored and i am going to buy my first elec car that will be used for drifting i know all about the tires to use now and techniques but i am on a 350$ budget and i seen the hpi sprint 2 drift and i am going to go pick it up at my local hobby store some time this week. is there any other cars that are better than this for under 350 or is this one a good one to start with. and also if i wanted to race it can i just change the motor, esc, and tires.

Thumbs up

...sounds like you likey the HPI stuff.
ok, so ur a bit M.A.D.

b4 buying an rc drift car, ask yourself these questions.....

a] am i prone to hopping cars up?
b] can i get parts for the model i plan to purchase?
c] am i unnessarily clinging to a particular brand?

my thoughts are, HPI gear costs a bucketlod to hopup.
and not many aftermarket companies do their stuff.

some good mid-range options might be....

tamiya ta05 [belt]
tamiya EVO IV [shaft]
tamiya TA03 [F or R] [belt]
alex racing barracuda R2 / R3 [shaft]

well, thats my opinion anyways.
i have drifted yokomo, associated, HPI, schumacher etc etc
and nearly every tamiya so i have a pretty good idea on what works best.
the sprint2 drifts well, but...ooops...there goes the belt!
lame layshaft/gearbox design also.
you price point at 350 is a bit high for a drift chassis,
save some moolah for a good radio, hopups etc.

hope this helpz.

honestly the Sprint 2 is a good chassis...my team has em and they have no problems with belts (maybe yearly change but thats not alot) i run a Pro 4 and i love it so HPI makes good chassis and they are very much driftable =D if you want you can even get the Hot Bodies Cyclone...i know 5 people that run them at rcdriftclub and they love it

they don't know any better rolly! ahaha

like i said Sprint2 drifts well BUT,
has a bad rear gearbox design, which causes
rocks to get trapped against the diff gear
it generates lots of steering slop over time
AND, are very difficult to hopup.
driftrolly what are it's good points?
and yes, i've owned one
- the carparks down here aint so clean, damn ROCKS!!!
there are better choices than a sprint thas fo sho.

i have heard good things about the cyclone,
but didnt like it's layout maintenance wise. personal pref i guess.

just an opinion dude.

no none of us run the d-box

@ mitchsterbrau:i can understand why you dont like the Sprint 2 since you guys have alot of rocks down there =D

it is true if you have a place with alot of rocks you should go for a Shaft drive:Pro 4,TT-01 and if its available that new HPI E-10 would be great...BUT if surface is not in issue Belt is the way to go:Sprint 2,Cyclone,Alex Racing R2

parts support is another factor as well
