Long springs for sure, Orange and red, if not full set. Try DJ's winternats 2010 or Salven's Houston setup from the link below. I like both of these.

The car handles pretty good with the stock setup on most tracks, Toledo is a different ball game though. Last year at the Nats we had to do a lot of changes to the stock setup, I ended up running pink springs on all 4 corners with the stock dampening, it was recommended to me by a team driver, the car was planted, it had tons of steering and the back was not loose at all, very balanced.

I don’t know what the team drivers ended up running though.

This is what I would start with;

Front

#3 sway bar
1 hole piston in the shocks with 800wt oil (30%) rebound
blue spring up one from bottom, if traction is high lower them all the way
front diff 200,000 oil
-.5 droop
-1 each side for toe
1.5 camber
middle position for the roll center
Ackerman position, back and outer
1mm short
35 front tires

Rear

2.5 sway bar and shave the middle to 1.1. (This is a mod we have been using)
2 hole piston in shocks with 800wt oil (30%) rebound
pink springs laid down, if traction is low raise them 1 hole
camber link on tower 1 up from bottom. 2mm spacer on hub
3.5 droop
+2.5 of toe
camber 4 on left and 3.5 on right
sway bar on inner position on the lower part of the arm
all short

Let me know if I forgot anything,

Hi DJ,
do u just grind a flat spot making it half circle thickness 1.1??
or grind it full circle so the diameter is 1.1?
and how wide for the 1.1?
thanks and a picture would be great

You have to grind a little form each side to make it 1.1. That way it is centered on the sway bay. Just try your best. Here is a photo. Aslo use some tape or something and just make sure to measure it with the collars that go over the bar and hold it in the bearings. Make sure to leave about 1mm of full bar on the inside of this collar.

Hope this helps,

Hi DJ,

Can you explain the theory behind the mounting of the shocks?

I thought the lower the shock the more side bite it generates? Why do you stand them up in lower grip?

Thanks.

Hi guys,

Just a question on bearings in this car. I have been told that they come oiled and not greased like most cars.

Do you clean and re-oil them every meeting?

The reason I asked is that I had a failure in a front bearing when the car was only 3 meetings old.

Hi DJ,

Sorry if I missed it, but was it the theory behind this mod?

The mod for the rear sway bar helps with the stable rear end.

The though of the springs is that in high bite I like the car to be softer and have a little more roll, as not to tractions roll. When the grip is lower the car needs help with response and the shocks a little stiffer helps this. Putting the shocks up one position helps in that way.

Shouldn't you use thinner oil in the rear diff, to get the rear more stable?
