Engines Apart What do you Think?

I'm not sure what did this.
The wrist pin clips are still in place, haven't broke any plug coils.
There was no left over debris from whatever it was.
The filter was ripped off in a crash once, something could have possibly got in. That was a while ago though, maybe it took some time to manifest.
The damage to the bushing on the Rod, is from pliers. I got it stuck in the sleeve and had to pull it out.
So, I'll need a new Rod too, because of the bushing?
The crank shaft looks fine. I haven't taken it out of the block, but it spins fine with the flywheel.
The rear bearing also, looks good.
So, I should take the crank out and check it still? Is there anything else I should do before getting a new P/S/R?
A new P/S/R would be about $60. It's an HPI G3.0 and the damage happened on the rear side of the engine.
Here's the top of the Piston. There are some really small marks on it and the head button.

So, I gave the engine one last look over and I'm pretty sure it only needs a new Piston, Cylinder and Rod.
I have a question.
The Head Button has some very small marks on it from what ever was in the engine.
I don't need to replace that too do I?
The head button shouldn't be contacting anything, so the little marks should be ok?
I can't believe this little head button cost $14.

Why isn't it worth rebuilding?
The new parts would be $60 or New engine $100.
I can use the $40 saved for tires or something. Unless theres a good reason not to rebuild it?
Thanks!

$100 engine? Replace it.
That damage is probably related to your filter coming off before. I bet your bearings are a little rough too... spin and feel for ANY lack of smoothness, and listen for any noises like grinding if you are even going to think about rebuilding. At the very least it needs a new piston, rod, and sleeve.
