Now I relly would like your thoughts on what engine and controller you would go for and what tuning parts.

My idea was to get a:
Vortex VST SC 550 PRO 4.0 with Vortex R10 Pro Controller
Savox 1258TG Servo

Thank you for your ideas and help - and greetings from Germany

I have ran both. I sold all my Tekin stuff and went to orion r10 and 10.1 one for my Tlr xxxsct and other for my scte 2.0. The Orion is way smother in 4x4 and delivers more power to 17.5 vst2 and 13.5 vst2. I think to 4.0 is going to be allot to handle. I personal run 10.1 and vst pro 4.5 and I have punch on 3 and no timing also radio epa at 90. At hotrod hobbies shoot out I was never passed on straight by a pro4 or a HD pro4. Anyways I believe the Orion is superior to the Tekin rx8 and rs pro.

Orion 10 Pro is what I run
Did away with all my Tekin ESC

Default Aluminum Steering rack/system

Is TLR or anyone else making a aluminum steering system for the scte 2.0?
I have already seen two failures with the stock steering.

Over driving the truck maybe ? Yes these parts can fail, but your Hitting something Rather hard if your breaking the Steering components.

Alum parts are NOT the solution as your only transferring the "jolt" further down the line.

What part is failing? I am sure Ryan would like to know as well as I don't think this is common. STRC I makes alum belcranks. Integy maybe as well but I find this odd. Are we talking servo arm or something in the belcrank system?

You would not want to run those in a pro-4 truck. Wrong winds as well as wrong output shaft for the pinions we run on these trucks.

I know people that have used them. They produce made torque and are fast in the correct cars.

The pro-2 line is not meant for a heavy pro-4 car. Could you do it I am sure but I would not recommend it. Stick with the Pro-4 line as they have more torque for moving these heavier platforms.

For me I like the Orion setup. That 4.0 is very powerful. You will definitely need to turn down ESC and probably EPA on throttle. Maybe a 4.5 would be a little easier on packs and drivetrain , but will still need to be turned down as well.

I run the thunderpower 550 4.5t motor with the orion r10. It is a lot smoother then a pro4 runs 140 max with a heat sink. 12t pinion and you cant tell its a 2 pole. The car is still torquey.
