Talking MY favorite old Chevy

vtl1180ny;
Unfortunately the Porsche mold is collecting dust. If this 200mm class should take off - we'll probably put it back into production. Sorry.

Did I hear you say CHEVELLE! Ahh - you're a man after my own heart! Can't do a '68 though. If I were ever to do produce one it would be a 1966 version. Why? I'm currently building a pro-touring style '66. (as I can afford it) It'ill be pretty nice someday. Hopefully even nicer than the ones in the attached pics.

One of our racers has the Porsche body and it looks great running around the track.

If the DB10R makes it into production then It will be very hard to resist buying one. The i-force is a nice bit of kit too.

SpeedMerchant makes a 200mm 1/12 style car called a Speed Spec. At www.rcexcitement.com we've been racing them with Mabuchi's for a coupla years now.... We do theme bodies every2 months or so. First was Supercars (with the likes of NSX's, etc.) then we switched to Muscle Cars (Mustangs, Camaros, etc). This has been the best way to really have some fun and, with the durability of these cars, things can turn into a rally/DemoDerby real quick.

Laughs are plentiful.

Smiles are contagious.

I remember you telling me you were building a Pro Touring 66... I'm considering going that way with my 68... It's a 138 VIN car, but not numbers matching...

Excuse me while I wipe some egg off my face.

I had no idea how many companies already have 200mm pan car chassis in production and ready to go. BMI, CRC, Speedmerchant, Darkside to mention a few. Corally has a new car 10X "New Generation" that's a little wide @ 225mm - but easily narrowed up a bit. I also hear that a few more companies are working on their own versions as we speak.
There's some exciting possibilities for some very cool looking cars spicing up the rc scene.

Itd be nice to see a resurgence of 1/10 pan from these 200mm chassis that are coming out. You could almost have an ALMS sort of thing going with the 235mm and the 200mm chassis cars.

If they can make the bodies for the 1/24th slot cars they should be able to make them 1/12th or 1/10th.I had a 1/24th body someone in california made of the Brumos Porsche DP. When I got rid of my Bud's car I gave the guy that body also.If the Buds car is 1/18th it fit . But I've also seen the 1/24th slot car bodies (DP) in plastic.
With the 200mm chassis making a comeback- the DP and Lemans types would be great.Right now we were also trying the trans-am bodies.

Dale,

If you make an accurate 190mm Aston Martin DBR9 body I'll worship the ground you walk on!! I still have a few Protoform bodies that are well out of production including the M3, Opel Astra, Volvo S40 and even a 1997 Opel Calibra! I used to love Protoform bodies since Id rather use bodies of cars that have actually raced. Id love to see a body of one of the BTCC cars too. Guess I just never fit in with the norm.

now if we can just fit in a couple extra batteries for some endurance racing.. that 2 hour drive to the track would be more palletable.

We have been running 2 hour endurance racing with the LMP F103GT with foam on blacktop, 540 can motor, about 25 minutes between driver and battery changes. We are looking to add a GT class to the endurance race. The bodies discussed here would fit the bill!

I remember Dale posting that he was working on a car from Down Under. I wonder what happened to that?

I know that HPI still has plenty of GT bodies for 200mm and Im sure you could still find some of the older Protoform bodies as well

With the big surge Trans Am classes are making in the R/C scene I do not see why this 200mm pan car class would not take off. The cars would be cheap, low maintenance, and fast depending on what motors are run.

The big kicker would be running realistic style bodies like TransAm. I am all for this type of class/racing. When BMI releases their DB10R I will grab one for sure!

I'm so glad that there's some really good feedback and ideas going on here. I'm about to leave for Detroit for the Noth American Int'l Auto Show. I'll be away from my computer until saturday morning. If there's anyone who possibly have any questions for me - I'll answer them then.

Can't wait to check out the new ZR1
