Sorry for poor quality photo but I had only my Nokia E52 at hand to take it.
It's now discontinued Protoform Mulsanne bodyshell with Rothmans inspired livery on F109. It's not perfect fit, but I can't wait to run it.

My F109 with a Tamiya made Mclaren MP4/6 body and decals of Gehard Bergers 1991 ride. Got the body from F1paintlab.com Its made for the F104W but fits perfect and even comes with the wing set.

Only issue is that the rear wing is lexan and not a one piece molded unit like f109 wing. So there is no mount just wing. But I used the rear wing from a Duratrax Delphi Indy car. Still need to the side winglets on it. If possible I will yet to use some graphite and build a wing mount to use the proper wing. If not, this will just have to do.

So all I need is the F104 aluminum diff housing set #54158 and an F104 drive shaft right? Drops all right in?

Looks like I have f-ed up the stock diff somehow.

Stock F103 diff works too. Believe its the same. F104 axle may be a tad shorter. I have the f104 steel axle on my standard F109. Works the same.
On second thought isn't the placement of the thrust bearing different from the f103 to the f104?

Nice. The only thing different from the real deal is the replacement of Marlboro sponsorship with the McLaren name. I just picked up one of those bodies and the sticker set too. Still a nice body indeed.

Yeah, Id much rather have the actual Marlboro decals, but until I get a set, these will do. Hope to have them for my next one. Will be doing an F60 body for the narrow F109 next.

Well the 3Racing F109 and the Tech Racing cars are probably the best chassis right out of the box. But the F109 is too wide to look right for the new bodies made for the F104. This is easily remedied by putting the F104 front suspension on the car and adding F104 wheels and tires. The Tech Racing car is rarer to find in the US so I haven't seen one first hand but it does look like a good chassis. The F104 has the simplest design and pretty easy to start with...upgrade it with the Exotech chassis kit and you'll have a great car. They all are pretty good kits when you get down to it.

If your plan on racing, check with the local class rules to see what chassis are allowed. If they allow the older 200mm chassis then Id suggest the 3racing F109. I have 2, and I love them both. One is standard 200mm wide, other is 180mm with the F104 frontend and wheels. Both drive nice on carpet with rubber tires. The wide one is evil with foams. In a good way.

well while Im here, I finally got some Shimizu tires for my Mutant F109K4 ( the F104 front end) Went with the F/R3 softs. Ran it on the carpet today. After I put some Associated hard springs in the front (.024s) and laid down the rear shock to almost level, it was very nice and crisp on the track. Still a tad bit of over steer, but alot of that is due to the new track layout which hasnt been raced on yet. So theres not a good groove. There will be after this weekends racing. Next week I will race it, and my standard F109.
