Anyone know where I can get the F109? None of the shops locally are stocking it and haven't had any luck online either? Would really like to get one soon for outdoor season...

Default New F109 owner

Just bought a used F109 from the site classifieds to run on a local tennis court track being constructed. I'm pretty much clueless on RC F1 cars so will probably be in your thread asking a few questions. I'll start now.

What type of battery should I get? I'd like something that will give me plenty of run time to learn the car. Been looking at LiPo and NiMH batteries and their weight, but I'm not sure what weight works best in this car. I do have a Esky LiPo charger left over from a brief RC helicopter pilot stint. It charges slowly through the balance lead. Would this work okay on the higher capacity batteries (4-5000 mAh)?

I would like to use Shimizu rubber slicks. Thinking soft in the rear medium up front. Does this sound like a decent starting point? How long do these typically last?

Thanks in advance

Has anyone run the carbon chassis kit on the 109? I'm looking at it for no other reason than I run outdoor asphalt, and the FRP chassis takes a hammering.
I'm assuming it will be a fair bit stiffer which is not ideal for outdoor, but perhaps the rigidity may make the car that bit more responsive. Mind you, we run SC, so it's not exactly under a lot of stress!

Which is the correct one to use?

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...20-Wire10L-12L

They both say they fit a 12th scale car.

Ive been wanting a Tamiya F103 (now F104) for years and years. Just this morning I suggested to the wife that she get me one for Fathers Day (doesnt hurt to try right?) Buuuuut after reading about 25 pages of this thread, and looking around online Ive decided to cancel that request and maybe just buying the F109 myself instead. Hopefully the rest of the thread just tells more good stuff about the car. Waiting for emails from a couple of places to tell me they are in stock (exotek ). Ok back to reading.

Is this car still available? Some of the sites that I was looking at that showed them out of stock, now do not even have them listed. Really wanting one of these.
