Surpass V4S Motors

I am not sure how many pages back but there are some pictures explaining the "nipple' issue to see if you are being affected by it.
Another thing to check but I haven't seen on the motors I had is make sure your bearings are fully seated down. I saw another brand motor have its bearings not fully seated from the factory, was causing binding and heating up.
I would also say drop your timing as well.

One of our club members was looking for a new 17.5 turn motor and I suggested the Surpass V4S. We dialled in his B6.1 about two weeks ago without a motor analyzer, because 17.5 off-road is just for hobby drivers in Germany, and ended up with approx. 47° end bell timing and 72/35 gearing. He had a waterfall mounted fan in his car, but it would not have been necessary. There is so much more in this little gem!
Fast forward to last weekend: Another club member struggled with his modified Cougar KC in the wet last weekend, borrowed the 17.5 powered Associated, and improved his lap times a lot. It seemed that the B6.1 did not loose a lot of speed compared to the mod cars and was faster than some of them, although the driver had not even pulled the trigger completely as it was a borrowed car... Bottom line: The rain racer bought a B6.1, one or two others ordered the Surpass motor, and I will order one or two of them later today. It is such a bargain!

Hi all! I ordered my second 8.5T V4S motor for modified class from Aliexpress but recently realized that I received 8.5T V4S for drift spec, so... buyer protection is gone... It comes with C51115 rotor instead of the typical C53125. What is the difference between these two rotors?

I purchased a Surpass V4s 25.5 for VTA and it is a total dog. I have the same motor in 21.5 TC and it is just as fast as most every other motor I have seen. Anyone else have experience with this motor? Where did you end up with timing and gearing?
I put the motor an a motorlizer before it went into the car and set it at a decent amp draw and tried several gearing combos. If I remember correctly the KV was around 1800max. I moved the timing until amp draw did not gain much KV. I think that ended up in the 1700's. I am not sure if that is good. Seems like the 21.5 is double that.
I can not get any punch or speed out of the motor. (yes I understand it is 25.5) I started moving timing up little by little and checking temps after 5 minutes. I now have the timing set at 50 on the can, which is as high as the numbers read, I am still getting motored down the straights. I am on average a 1/2 second slower than the previous motor I had in the car.
Any thoughts?

Hello All, I want to apologize for any delay in responding. The last 4 months have been really hard on our family. My wife had a double lung transplant, then had complications and sadly passed away.
I am trying to get SurpassRacing.com back to normal. working on getting everything back up to date and getting restocked. I hope to get to all your questions soon, we are dedicated to supporting Surpass in the USA.

Note the direction of rotation on the motor cage, the direction of the rotation arrow is reversed on the "R" version

Anyone test the V4R?
#375
From what I've seen of reviews of the V4R versus V4S.. the S is the way to go. They are both strong, but the S tested stronger.
