Before I had the 5 , I drove an X-ray for 3 seasons. The X-ray is obviously a great car, and the 5 is great in its own way. Has a couple issues but once you figure them out the car is fantastic! Had my first race with the 5 this past weekend . X-ray going on eBay haha.

Only stripped one gear in first qualie, took me 15 mins to make the bearing fit into the new spur gear comfortably ( ie not have to use 3 pound hammer),
Have also modified gearbox in 3 places due to inconsistencies And strippages, still stripping, running brace ( so chassy does not bend when some one looks at it funny oh and this also allows the brakes to actually slow the car down as opposed to banananising the chassy), modified clutch (to make it work), modified servo saver( to make it work), running X-ray gears in diffs ( early kit), threw away the wonky thrust bearing holder with the off centre hole, threw away the rear bulkhead top pice that broke when I looked at it funny, modified the steering servo saver shaft holder assembly to allow the servo to do its job.
As I have said before other than that this is a great car.
Oh and the race went really well, I counted about 3 fuel stops before I heard second gear to start kicking in, at this point my engine had reached a peak of 146deg celsius. At this point I had gone from 2nd to 1st down to 4th and back to 2nd. Chasing down the consistent gearbox shifting Capricorn car of young gun Joel Casey who was in the lead, my gear box teased me till the end one lap working one lap not working, all this as I'm trying to make up for an extra fuel stop As Mr Joel Casey was doing 6 min stops. In the end I won the race on the last lap posted the fastest lap of the race and didn't even strip a gear in the final ( probably because it only worked about 5 minutes out of the 30 min race. )
There you go good news and a great car to drive if you have an engineering degree.
