MTX 5

anyone heard when it will hit the tracks??

NiTrO BoOsTeR 11-27-2008 03:59 AM

there was a hope or a rumor of a new 1/10th car, its not looking good but it wont be called the Mtx5 from what i have heard, i heard it will be the Mtx4-rx similar to the 1/8th MRX4-X upgrade.

Dont go by what i have said its only what i have heard.

I contacted Mugen on this issue last week and was told there is no new car or upgrade at this time.

I imagine new designs are on hold for a bit since Sheperd's designer just joined Mugen. With him on board I'm sure many great new things will be coming down the road but it might be a little while.

You should have stuck with it. :)

To tell you the truth...I believe a new car will be released next year sometime. I was at the Mugen factory in Chiba, Japan last fortnight whilst on Holidays and I did see a prototype..not sure if it will be the same car as released...but it did look cool. Unfortunately all the writing on the card was in Japanese..so it made no sense to me  But yes, I would say next year.

I hope they fix the gear stripping problem of mtx4.

stefan 11-28-2008 11:55 PM

Do you guys feel that we REALLY need a new car just yet?
Is there another car out there that makes the MTX4 R obsolete.
Any car that is quicker than the Mugen for technical reasons?

I feel absolutely competitive with mine and I got plenty of spares left, so I hope Mugen will wait at least until the end of next season.

Also, who feels that his driving skills are better than what the car can deliver?:sneaky:

I know, mine aren't!!

Btw, I never had a spur gear issue!!!

NiTrO BoOsTeR 11-28-2008 11:58 PM

yea i never had a gear strip at all and i been racing about a year, i still feel competitive, like you, with mine but that is because we all are running the same car. i think it would be to mugens advantage to bring out an upgrade kit rather than the new car and make it the MTX-4rx and people with the mtx4 series can just upgrade rather than buying a brand new car.

Just my 2 cents worth

I know a brand who comes up with model every year and still is not able to beat the other brands ;)

You know, that's why I gave up on electric sedan. You can't buy that stuff as quickly as it comes out.

That's why I love nitro racing. The cars are good for 3-4 years.

choisan 11-29-2008 06:29 AM

come on mugen, even some brand is going to shorten its re-engineering time from 2 years to, maybe 1 after you launch a new car. mugen is still a mugen.

Gears

I never had a gear strip in a full season with MTX4R.

I didn´t use the new gears. Only the "old ones". No problem.

The MTX4 is still a competitive car. Won a chapionship with Serpents, Xray and Team Magic evolved.

It´s still a great car. Very simple but efective.

If a new car is comming it must be a blast... with technical inovations.

Best regards

Mugen tends to roll with what works. All these companies that keep changing their car designs and putting out new cars 6 months to a year after releasing a new kit means that they did not get it right the first time, in my opinion. They keep you buying/spending making you think that you have to get the latest/greatest just to keep up. I have been racing my MTX4 since it first came out (reluctantly bought it because my MTX3 was still highly competitive but parts availability gave way to the MTX4 parts production, forcing the switch). While I have been running my MTX4, many of my buddies have bought and run both versions of the Serpent 720, several versions of the Kyosho V one RRR, two versions of the G4, and the Xray NT1. Yes, I have one buddy in particular that have owned all the above including the MTX4 during my almost 2 years of owning my MTX4. So, why keep making major changes to a product that is working just to make changes (ask the folks that bought the Impulse Pro which was quickly replaced by the 705 and immediately replaced by the 710, all of which shared almost no parts meaning you were stuck like chuck especially with the 705 model). So, Mugen, take your time and if you are eventually going to come out with a new model, phase it in like you have done with your previous two models (MTX3 and MTX4).
