If its a big track don't waste time on the 9 turn.When Hara was in town for a demo race...He used a '6 TURN' on what I call a medium sized track!
So I think a 7-8 turn would be good for your application.

We have had a few issues in the UK with the epoxy coming off but to be honest it's usually when they are timed with more advance than necessary, other than that no problems.
For larger tracks I think you will struggle a little with duration on the 6's and 7's unless your very throttle friendly! We have three Arms direct for Oscar which are 6's and 7's with the groove but to be honest we run a off the shelf Reinhard 8x1 pretty much everywhere we go because they are so durable. BTW it is only the 12 turn in the Reinhard range that has the grooved stack.
Our usual setup on that is
8x1 Reinhard
Sprint edge brushes
16degrees timing (inbetween 2nd and 3rd mark)
MR032 springs which are the softest Inox versions - Pt Number 41382
Gearing between 7.8 and 8.2/1 depending on circuit size
We finished 3rd in the A main at the last UK mod National, behind Chris Grainger and Craig Drescher and in front of Andy Moore with that very motor and it was a pretty open and flowing circuit....certainly were not short of horsepower and it had one skim and one set of brushes all day.

All of our armatures are drill balanced, from 6-19 turns, and each armature/motor comes with a "LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY".... If your interested, contact Scott Harris of Harris R/C as they are the exclusive importer of DC Motorsports into Australia...

Blue - 5mm armature web, enduro brushes, off-road winds
Black - 4mm armature web, enduro brushes, touring winds
Green - 4 mm armature web, sprint brushes, off-road winds
Purple - 4mm armature web, Sprint brushes, touring winds
The Blue V2 is the weakest of all but is more economical. Lasts longer in between rebuilds.
