why did roar kill off 10.5 in offroad?

Id like to see the guys you all are running if you all think that 17.5 is slow or 13.5 is slow. Its gotta be a field of pudges, truhe's and Tebo's. 17.5 is cake to gear and makes competing with brushed 27t motors possible for the guys that havent made the BL jump. you gear a 13.5 right and you have no problem keeping up with 19t guys. All I hear is whiners! Super stock is ruining the gap of racers and is destroying racing. There should be stock and mod. Here at my local track the top 17.5 guys run are marginally slower then the 13.5 guys and they, 13.5 barely slower then the mod racers and all are running in the same class. The biggest advantage to the 17.5 is its a cheap class and keeps cost low, you dont run down a set of tires every couple runs. You have a bunch of guys running 13.5 and you have your average joe try to hop in and his cost goes up especially if your running on a high bite track due to tires. getting rid of 10.5 It also splits the racers up, what ever happened to stock and mod? It needs to come back and throwing 10.5 away is a step towards bringing in more racers and hopefully getting rid of SS 13.5 is next. Then hopefully is can come back to when racing was at its most popular, when there were 2 classes, stock and mod. The only reason for the rule change is because everyone is figuring out brushless finally and rules are adapting to the technology as well as the popularity of the classes.

I guess its just different in different parts of the country. Every track around here has ran 13.5 as stock for almost like 2 years now. Only 1 track in the state runs a 17.5 class. I guess I say 17.5 is slow because 13.5 is just stock to me now. When in reality 17.5 is right at the same speed when we all left 27t stockers. I really would like to see 2 classes again stock and mod, but of course I'd prefer 13.5/mod.

I vote for 17.5 for stock.
Think newcomers, not experienced racers.

Yeah at my track there were 10 people in stock buggy and then 10 in stock truck and then 3 in mod... my mod race was really fun haha

I agree 100%
Even if your an experienced racer, the slower 17.5 class forces you to find faster lines and allows for closer racing. From my best recollection, some of the funnest, closest, heart in my throat racing was in the stock class. Some of the fastest stock guys with a faster motor would put a hurtin on the "more experienced" super stock racers.

2 classes!!!
I couldn't agree more!!!
I have been racing for over 20 years now and got started running stock then as my skills progressed I worked up into mod. Back then it was a much bigger jump, 7 cell vs 6 cell and all the associated motor parts. I would really like to see only a few classes and I think it would really help draw in more newer racers. They should always be able to depend on a even, cost effective class after graduating from Novice. I live in So-cal and at nearly all the tracks you will see Sponsored Pros... so you REALLY have to be good and have the high end equipment just to be mildly competitive. I think there should be Novice, Stock(27t/17.5), Sportsman Mod(if signups allow) and Pro Mod. Some of the best times I had was running Stock buggy and Sportsman Mod truck. The playing field was always fair we all had roughly the same equipment and if I was felling lucky I could alway sign up for the Pro Mod if I wanted a higher level of competition. They need to keep the class rules strict and let the racers decide what motors they want to run based on skill level. Keep it fair and cost effective for the main people supporting the hobby the weekend club racer and the bashers who occasionally race if something is not done the technology will ruin our hobby.

With BL/Lipo getting easier and cheaper i don't see how people cannot be competitive more so today then ever.
I guess it's better to bump 19t down, maybe now there will be a more clear jump in speed between mod and 19t.
I still run a 10.5 in mod unless it's a large outdoor track.

With brushless and LiPo everybody can be competitive. The sponsored guys get beat all the time at club races these days. It's all about driving now!
