I raced the Type R's for a while. I got them from a team driver that got dropped.
Good cars, plenty tunable. The big issue for me was the rear bulkhead could get loose or crack and take out the tranny case as well.
The other issue is it used different sized diff balls and thrust balls so everything was mail order.
I did well with them but ultimatley went to Losi and then the track closed. When I came back I went straight to Losi.

well if i remember correctly you were able to use the AE diff in the ultima tranny's with a few mods.

just wondering, is it possible just to remove the centre shaft and the front cva to make the zx-5 like a 2wd?

or will there be loss of efficincy coz there is loss of drive to the centre shaft?

You could take out the whole front drivetrain on the ZX-5 sure, but unless your running on an ultra mega superdooper high grip track it will handle horribly. The ZX-5 doesnt have enough weight over the rear wheels to work in RWD.

no kidding looks like this thread almost worthless. j/p i think that there will be some more info in the next few weeks sincethey are starting back up on the project now. but so far so good lets just hope that the car comes with metric hex hardware instead of the crappy phillips head screws that the lazer came with.
