Perhaps Novak coats the stator with something to prevent oxidation? Isn't it iron?

It looks that way. But as long as the products are good it won't bother me much.

For the most part, it's Novak, LRP, Feigao and Hacker that are manufacturing sensored brushless motors that we use. I believe there's another... possibly Hobbywing, but I haven't seen much from them yet.

Feigao was the big OEM source. The people buying their motors will tell you how much tuning and whatever have gone into them, and how much they worked with the company to get the motor just the way they liked it. How much of that is actually true, or actually matters, I can't say. It sounds more like market speak than anything, but that's just my opinion. I haven't tried every motor for myself.

Novak and LRP don't do OEM business as far as I can tell.

Hacker is apparently doing OEM business, with Losi and maybe the new Orion motors? I can't tell if the new Orions are Feigao or not, I haven't seen one up close.

Here ya go. Thats what a motor is supposed to look like imo. The old one reminds me of the edges of my Hudy set up gauges, and the new one has a stealth look to it.

Oh NICE! Man, that is a fine, fine looking motor. See, all you people that think a motor shouldn't look nice... I'm glad Orion doesn't agree with you. They clearly went through a lot of trouble to make their motor look badass, and now I want 10 of them. :-)

That doesn't look like a Feigao motor to me.

It makes sense. Hacker was imported at one point by E-flite. A Horizon company. Which of course Losi is a part of now.

So, Losi could be getting their motors from Hacker.

Those cars are about as sanitary as it gets. Period. EVERYTHINGS blacked out. Black Deans, black servo and speedo wires, it even looks like hes got a black Sphere.

It's just a fashion, these things go in circles. I'm not into flashy clothes so you can imagine how low down the list the look of the motors and esc are.

It's a shame that such a new and upcoming technology as brushless is being turned into a fashion thing as there is so much more to come from the tech that the apperance should be bottom of the list imho.

Racing toys cars is geeky enough without having to worry about what colour things come in

Are the rings on the Novak motor the same as the Hacker? I have a black Novak ring and would like to put in on my Hacker when it comes.

The Novak stator is a different length which makes the ring a different length. So if you are to make the novak ring shorter I imagine it will fit.

It could be modified to, but otherwise No. The Hacker/Losi ring is 16mm wide x 34.15mm ID (inner diameter), the Novak is 18.15mm wide x 34.30mm ID.

The Novak ring would be a little loose on the Hacker motor, and would have to be narrowed by 2.15mm for the end bell to fit correctly.
