The best bet for a budget motor would be the cheaper Nova's. Maybe a JP P7 or something similar. I think Roleof would agree with this.

Actually I had a Xenon-R and it was not the best experience. You do need a 2013 to run it perfectly, any other pipe will not work (did try, 2052, 2015, 2017 and 2006). Unlucky within Europe All 20xx Sirio Pipes are banned and no new are develloped.....
Beside that, after 5 liter changing the rod it did not fit, a tiny production failure making a to small hole for the crankpin I had to drill up. Messuring the crankpin did show on the end-tip an egg-shape with 0.03mm more play. 2 liters further the rod broke. These experiences do keep me on a distance from Sirio (based) engines.
I have seen the P7L-black and I must say it did impress me for that money, I think that even the serious racer with a tight budget can use this engine as a spare. For now I will stick with the Eagle 9.s and will take a look to the new Stockversion of this engine until our own engine is race ready.

Get a 359 Hotmod. Problem solved!

Why advising an expensive and to fast engine for an avarage racer who can not use its full potential?
And my opinion is to stay away from the 359 model and all others with the smaller crankpin. To much known issues like broken or splitted rods. Yes, a smaller crankpin mus have it advantages but JP has proven that the 5mm crankpin is not running less.

Thanks for all the help! The P7L black looks interesting.
Yes, I like the kangaroo engine... even with the bogging problem,
I was able to keep up... just not with the fastest guy because
I lose about 5-6 seconds the lap right after refueling.

I think all novarossi base engines run excellent!!! It won't matter what engine he get's if he don't know how 2 tune it.

hey, hi Rick, I'm Howard
I raced with vorra a few times last year. I raced 1/8 and electric.
Are you getting a 1/8 for next year? Do you go to 301 often?
I have never been there but would like to go next year.

I have built a 1/8 and plan to go to 301 twice a month this year. I was up there twice last year it is a great track. I've been looking at the motor you are talking about the 35 plus 21. I have been told it was more dependable than the 359 but I have no idea. I've been listening to what everyone has to say and the nova or JP always seem to come out on top.

I just need a place that I can do setup work for at least half a day.
If I am able to solve the bogging problem with my current engine,
I don't have to invest on a new one. The question is, where can
I find clean asphalt before the season begin. I wonder if the
sports park let us practice there.

Go up to 301 on an off day and have at it. The track is always there and open.

Powerdrifter, Rick's not the only one with a 1/8th scale for this year. Along with me there is 1 other joining the 1/8th ranks so should be a pretty full field. I think I got some more electrics coming from Debbie's also.
As for engines have you considered the OS 21 VZ-R ver.II?
A place to practice, which end of town do you live in? Is there a school nearby? I'm in the eastend and there is a new middle school with a fairly clean parking lot a couple miles from me, noone has said anything about us running the electrics and a 1/10th nitro car there.
