I'm running my car in 17.5 rubber, indoor on carpet.

The rear end is spinning out, either corner entrance or exit, any advice?

Setup:

Front: SR purple, 60w
Rear: SR copper, 30w

35/82 gearing.

Muchmore 28 tires.

I'd answer that question, but i've never ran the car in carpet yet. Check your droop and what kind of shock oil you using too? Joe Mac might know since he's raced it in carpet pretty well hooked up.

I ran mine with 60wt. all around, 5mm ride height in the rear and 6mm in front, stock springs, but I ran HPI X-pattern pro compound on carpet. I think the tires were the the key. I ran a softer insert in the rear. It hooked up well on carpet.

I was running the X-pattern D compounds, but they were melting.

Hi all,
First time poster and have loved reading all the great reviews on this car! I would just like to know if this would be a good first time racer setup. I would be racing at my LHS this summer in the "10th Scale Novice Electric" and hope to move up soon to the "10th Scale Stock" Both are touring classes. They do not require ROAR spec chassis but do require spec motors.
Any input would be of great value.

Congrats on your first post! The OFNA JL10 is a GREAT starter car and is just as competitive as the next car in it's class. Before getting into all the mods and set ups for the car, i recommend running everything STOCK first. That way, you will spend less time chasing set up and you start with something neutral. If you want some set up ideas, i recommend going to the ofna site (www.ofna.com) to run what Jeff, Steve, or Dave are running. Other than that, start simple and go from there. The only thing i would look at is gearing for your spec motor. Depending on what motor is is obviously. With that being said, good luck with your first Touring Car race and be sure to report back to us on your progress.

Also would recommend buying spare arms, hubs for any car you race. Especially if its your first time or your just getting into racing. Have fun and race.

The front battery holder tends to break if there as any space left when you put the battery in. When the battery flies forward on a hard hit it will break. Check the screws that hold the motor collar in place. They sometimes loosen after a run.

also check the motors heatsink screws they tend to back out. Put locking washers on the screws to solve this problem.

Thanks for all the great advice. I've decided on the JL-10 gt and 17.5 Novak Havoc spec. I was wondering about parts - ofna.com or Tower Hobbies don't carry a large selection of parts. Will more parts be available in the future or should I look at another site for parts?
