Can someone please advise if the following parts are standard items in the kit, or are these aftermarket shimming options.

1x ASC31162 Axle Shim Kit
1x ASC31198 Arm Mount Shim Set:TC5
1x ASC31200 Wheelbase Shim Set:TC5

How are you guy's finding this car on Asphalt with rubber tyres. Also are you experiencing any high wear items that would be good to keep stock of.

Also what weight shock oils are those who run in modified using, on apshalt with rubber tyres.
Cheers
Aaron

Should have flown Southwest Airlines.....

I haven't broken anything yet but it's a good idea to have castor blocks, steering knuckles, and the suspension mounts on hand.

Side-to-side play is normal. The diff balls are thicker than the pulley.

Check Omni models. They have one of the belts, but I don't think they have the rear one yet. Aluminum diffs will be out this month there.

First run for the TC5.

1. Home made spool did not work at all, use a Yokomo one instead.

2. Rear plastic diff half melted when the rings spun through the notched area, luckily had second diff but this time glued the rings to the diff half so they would not spin.

Novak 5.5, 3200 Lipo(6 cell weight), FDR 7.9. RP30, asphalt track

Thanks to Kurt from Associated for all the help.

How do you guys melt diffs I have run so far 6 race meetings all with 5.5 6cell and I havent touch the rear diff it is so smooth not even adjusted it best diffs I have had. You MUST push the nut hard into the holder and pre compress the spring with that done all should be fine. Home made spool works really well no real problems their.Best car by far that I have ever had I really enjoy every meeting that I attend now.

Keep it club racing..........

I also melted my rear diff. I loosend my diff a bit less than 1/4. I ran with
a 4.5 brushless with novak GTB on high bite carpet with rubber tires.

Maybe i should have stopped after 5 min, i think i drove almost 7 min.

Is there somewhere in the world a shop that has a diff-kit in stock?

You can make a spool out of the standard front diff.

1. Do not install diff balls
2. Assemble the diff as per instructions (except diff balls and grease on pulley)
3. Use Dremel sanding discs - mark out the size first, the outside diameter is correct, you just have to mark and cut out the inside diameter (making sure that the smooth side is facing the diff plates)
4. Tighten up diff fully
** Optional only: make sure outdrives are lined up with each other - use slots. The reason for this is that you can see how much your spool has moved after a crash, and readjust (retighten) if required.

I have run a spool like this since the car came out and have had no issues (ie. breakages or spool letting go).

Just a note to all that are having issues with diff meltdowns:

the standard diffs work perfectly fine with low wind b/l motors (3.5t and 4.5t) as long as you take care when building the diffs.

1. make sure the diff plates are cleaned with motor spray
2. place 4 small blobs (equally spaced) of silicone grease on the outdrive - d-ring area
3. make sure the diff plate is facing the correct way (sharp edge towards the outdrive -facing down away from the pulley)
4. build diff as per instructions (diff spring precompressed/diff nut securely held in place)
5. make sure the diff is tightened properly

Hi Chad,

Unless there is a problem with your belt(s), you should not have to replace them anytime soon. I think one of the AE team guys posted earlier that they have been running the same belt since they got the car (about 9 months) and mine is like brand new (no signs of wear) and I have been extensively testing and racing the car for over 8 weeks now (3.5 and 4.5t b/l).

The Alum. diffs are not available yet. It shouldn't be long.

Hope this helps you guys out.

-Leonard.
