Bringing this thread back to life...

Just got my Gold VDF yesterday. Funny how the a few minutes before I ordered it I was set on getting the new VDS. Anyone know if a gold oneway exists?

oneway main or center pulley? I do not know of any option from Tamiya? I've seen aftermarket companies starting to make gold parts fo drifter chassis and on the the plus side they are mostly compatible! Talk to http://www.rc-race-and-drift-japan.com/ they can get/find these parts

tamiya has not made any gold oneway, both centre or front

if using the front oneway it'll be covered by plastic bulkhead anyway.
(if using clear blue or alloy bulkhead then yeah your underwear is showing)

centre oneway can find TA05v2 black ltd version with 18T
but you need to find a way of securing the pulley & the fixed pulley.
Square makes a aftermarket layshaft for VDF that accepts grubscrew pulleys.

made two orders from them with no issues all parts i needed said in stock! 5 days later they send me email saying some parts on back order on both orders and need 2 to 5 days for parts to come in? It has been 10 days now and no email update? I would rather use race & drift

So far I've been lucky with Banzai.Race and Drift is good too, so is RcMart. Never really had a problem ordering from the Orient.

Anyone have any idea where I can find either the Eagle Racing or Active CS pulley set for this magical beast? I'm surprised eBay comes up with nothing. Every other place seems to be out of stock.

My buddy got his VDF together before mine and damn this thing is silky! Granted I don't have much experience with this but compared with what I have driven so far, the VDF is the loveliest.

Those kits overdrive the rear too much and the internal ratio wont allow you to achieve good gearing for anything hotter than 13.5. 20t center pulley and 32t rear pulley seems to be about the limit for rear axle, for decent gearing.

I'm new to this so is there any outright advantage to running a hot mod motor for drifting? I've installed a 17.5 anyway but is it enough?

For countersteer setups, you really don't need anything hotter than 10.5. Much of the action happens with low throttle. 17.5 will work, but if you're new to drifting, you may think it's too slow. IMO slow looks better and more scale.
