Thx. This is my first 1/8 buggy and I've only had a chance to run the buggy for two packs before my RX8 stopped working, otherwise I would have tried the adjustment myself. Just trying to learn as much as I can before I receive my replacement RX8.

Hello Everyone,

I want to get an Associate RC8.2e and I had a couple questions. I like to go fast down straight aways and I wanted to know if anyone had any kind of experience with different gearing setups versus speed? Anyone know how fast this thing will go on a 5S lipo with stock gearing?

Also, has anyone used a 5S or 6S lipo? How does the RC8.2e hold up to that kind of power?

Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated!

What motor are you using currently? Gearing is really dependent on the KV rating of the motor.

Most of the racers using 5 and 6s setups are using lower KV motors because it's easier on the entries system in general.

I have found this chart useful for a general idea of KV ranges and cell counts: http://teamtekin.com/t8/index.html

I have not bought the motor system or buggy yet, I am just trying to do a little research. If I was to get it I would put the 2200kv Mamba Monster System in it.

That motor won't have any issues going "slow" on a 4s configuration for sure. 5s would be a bit big but you are free to do whatever you want of course.

Lol yea with the 2050 T8 at first I was kind of dissapointed when I was running on grass at the speed and power, then when I moved to dirt and realized that each wheel was throwing a 2ft rooster tail I realized I had a lot more power than I was actually using

Use a pinion that is one tooth smaller than your capped question.

Hey guys... I'm still experiencing a leaky center diff

I sanded the cups as instructed (even though I didn't have fine grit sandpaper on hand, just used what I had). I ordered some extra diff gaskets and doubled up and added lots of black grease. When I rebuilt the diff last time, I made sure I lubed up everything well. I ran a couple laps in front of my house and thought it was fixed. Then I ran some faster laps and giving it more throttle and noticed the oil. It's better than last time but still there......any idea's

I was going to pick up some silicone from my local auto parts store tomorrow.

If you drive with a lot of wheelspin... it increases heat in the affected diff. Heat causes expansion, expansion creates leaky diffs. Roll on the trigger instead of stabbing it to death... youll have less leakage and faster lap times to boot.
