SC10 4x4 Thread
What motor are you running with that esc?
The best part about those speed controlers is some of them perform just as well as the more "high end" electronics for a fraction of the price
Anyone see the 1/10 sensorless brushless system from orion that looks like a ezrun esc with orion stickers on it?

We are running speed passion software on the xerun; it really is an awesome esc.
Hopefully "whatever" it is, it won't be cloned by the bottom feeders......
I'm thinking of flying down to Texas and hitting up some races w/ Team RCSHOX....
On the Hobbywing esc's, I've got a few of them in my airplanes. All have worked as they should and haven't had a problem w/ any of them. I wouldn't be surprised if quite a few different esc's come from Hobbywing.

Not real sure. I ran around 15 packs through it with no probs and temps were always good. I was a couple of minutes into a run when the truck just quit and the esc started smoking. When I hit it with the temp gun both motor and esc were barely warm. I sent it back and Tekin replaced the circuit board and said it was of no fault of mine. Anyway, got it all hooked up and back together last night. It calibrated fine but shows error code of wrong motor type so I checked it and it is set to brushless then it lights up for normal opperation. When I hit the throtle the led's light up as they should but no power to motor so then I cut the power off at switch and try again and the whole things starts over with wrong motor selection. I had 3 guys at track (all vets who own or have owned Tekin) look at it and no one could figure it out.

ok, these stats are recomendations not motor limits
1.6 Suitable Brushless Motor:
With 2 cells Lipo or 4-6 cells NiMH, 1/10 on-road: >=3.5T, 1/10 off-road: >=5.5T
With 3 cells Lipo or 7-9 cells NiMH, 1/10 on-road: >=5.5T, 1/10 off-road: >=8.5T

Thanks for the help. I think I'll go ahead and order the Xerun. The worst part about all of this is that I just installed the 2 stage pistons and garodiscs and can't get to the track to try them out.
No problem, i am always glad to help. I hope you get to running soon. You will love the garodiscs and 2 stage pistons, and the Xerun!

Speaking of Bottom Feeders:
Coyote Chassis Braces will be shipped Tue, not monday for you 4 guys who ordered last week. The shipment comes in at 2pm, and mail will go out at 5pm instead of my normal 11am. I'm going to scramble to get 4 braces done in 2 hours to get them to you guys. So it will technically ship "tue". Sorry for the lapse on my Monday promises!

I hate do be this way, but can we get this thread back on topic, and start hating on Novak again, please?
The top speed of the 3800kv motor is is no way effected by the motor not being sensored. The sensor comes into play at a very low rpm, then actually shuts off as the rpms climb.
I'd say you were getting passed because your didn't have enough gear, to small of a pinion. With 13/62 the truck is geared for a little under 30mph. Hitting max RPM way to soon.
I run the 3800 and rx8, I run 15/62, plenty of grunt and plenty of top speed, w/ temps around 130-140. 15/62 is closer to 34mph.
All things equal the 3800 and 4000 should be very close to each other in performance.
Check out the chart for gearing and mph.... Note that battery voltage effects
MPH. The top chart is at 7.4v, the bottom chart is at 8.4V. Nominal voltage
for a 2s lipo and fully charged voltage for a 2s.
Could someone put the MPH/gearing chart on the front page? This chart could stop alot of needless "PINION" questions.
