The older Losi's (xxx series) should fit if you really want to go that route, not 100% sure about the 22's tho, but I would suspect not.
Make sure the ballstuds are screwed all the way in - if the flat part doesn't lie right on the surface it's screwed on, the exposed thread section will offer a least resistance spot, and that's where it'll break.

Hello AE peoples. I race stock in 2WD and 4WD but have been wanting to try mod truck for while so I bought a couple of T4's.
I am looking to gear them with a 8.5 HW brushless and 60A esc.
Research suggests I run 18/87.
I'm sure i need to add some weights too. any suggestions??
I'm sure this has been answered 14 times before but I know it will only take a few key strokes to respond.
thanks in advance!!

Hey guys, just wondered if any of you have been running brushless long term on a T4 or B4 with a ball differential?
I just picked up a brushless (novak 5800) T4 for a good price and am wondering how the ball differential will do. After driving it, it seems like the ball differential will be fine with the stock tires, but i may be running some bigger, meatier tires, which is what will put the extra strain on it.
Im also looking for gearing suggestions on my 8.5t (like the poster above). The truck came to me geared 15/87, but after driving it, it seems pretty slow compared to my Evader with a 3930kv tacon motor, so im going to gear up some. At the moment my 2 other options are 16/81, and 20/87 until i pick up some more pinion gears.
Thanks

My ball differentials do very well. I get 3-4 months on a build with no gritty feeling, super smooth. It is all about prep and initial adjustment, after that I just forget it. My outdrives wear before the differential needs a rebuild.
Carbide balls, smooth shims with 1500 paper and grease properly.

I've broken a few ballstuds (esp the inner rear camber link ones) in my older B4 days... none broken with the B4.1 so far (those with the hex hole), the material seems stronger.

The hex ones my dad had bought so I've been taking them to use, but is that one of the other differences from the b4.1 to the b4 is the b4.1 studs have a hex hole instead?

Thanks TBJ and FatKid
It seems like ball differentials are hyped up to be more maintenance than they really are. The diff in this truck could use a rebuild(its kinda gritty), but was still working fine when i drove it yesterday. I think with a proper rebuild it would be good. I found out the diff was in backwards when i got the truck. So, before i ran it, i inspected it and readjusted it when i reinstalled it in the correct direction. The slipper is set pretty good and slips long before the diff(havent heard the diff slip at all).
Im liking the T4 pretty good so far. I think it'll be a rocket once i get the motor cleaned and geared correctly.

It seems that some of the AE cups are more brittle then others...it's like everything else, there is always someone that will say they have never broke one...try the RPM cups..

its not the cups i am having an issue with, the ballstuds themselves keep snapping, ive had 4 or 5 with in the last week, from either being run over by an SC or a small crash... I am going to buy the hex ones for the b4.1 because they seem to be holding up better than the ones that came on the b4, if they continue to break then ill try something else.
