ROAR just outlawed chassis that only allow you to fit short LiPos, because that wouldn't allow you to run stick packs.

Mid motor can fit saddles or a shorty either one. The way ThunderbirdJunkie interprets it, is it can fit saddles, a shorty, or a stick pack. Saddles only are fine, but if it will only fit a shorty, then it's illegal.

Got a quick question.

What grease do I put on the gears in the transmission?

yeah i believe even if the mid motor ONLY fit shorty its still a legal chassis because rear motor fits sticks too. and therefore you could run a shorty in mid motor if it was the only thing that fit.

i believe the rule is there to just keep companies from making additional battery sizes specific for there cars, like AE releasing a b5 that accepted a 80mm battery only, and that reedy just happens to make this new 80mm battery.

From the sticky "How To Properly Build And Break In a Ball Differential and Slipper Clutch" thread:

No grease. Just a few drops of 50 wt shock oil.

you are 100% right!

Per Steve Pond, current president of ROAR, all current Chassis are legal. The tlr22, even in mid motor, can accept a saddle pack so it is a legal configuration.

keep in mind everyone. This new rule is temporary. There are plans to draft a new standard for shorties that will lift these limits eventually.

What is the benefit of running a shorty pack? More specifically a Reedy #306. I understand there are greater tuning capabilities, but the pack is much lighter so that will have to have some kind of effect on the car. Looking at the latest AE setup sheets, the guys running the shorty packs haven't really added anymore weight than normal.

I just switched to the hex front conversions and have a question. I bought the new jconcepts nuts for the front they are serrated and I am using the de wheels. I don't have enough room for any socket to fit around that nut without hitting the wheel in the front... Rear ones have plenty of room.

Is there a special tool for this, I see the jconcepts nuts have indents around them? What is everyone using for the front wheels?

Thanks!

Use a bench grinder or a dremel to grind down the O.D. of the socket till it fits or try a Hudy nut driver, they have a thinner wall for tight areas.

Use the clear Silicon diff lube , other stuff can ruin your diff by contaminating the diff lube...
