I can say with 100% certainty that a 2013 will definitely not fall short on the top end...

Does anyone here use Sidewinder Strike Team? If so was there anything you did special to get the fuel to work right?

My problem is that the original owner used Byron's. Well I cant get my hands on any right now. I have Strike Team on hand, and have only heard great things from it.

I had my friend look over it. Tried to run ST through it and it was inconsistent. He put some byrons through it with no issues.

I dont think there should be that much of an issue changing fuels, as they are both 30% with i believe 9% oil content.

Any help would be most appreciated

Far be it from me to criticize anyone's fuel, but I can tell you there is most certainly differences. The biggest difference is in the oil package. It doesn't get any better than Klotz, which is what Byron uses. Pudge seems to do OK with Sidewinder. He puts the stuff through Orion engines and won the Nationals with it, so ... I personally think our stuff runs better with Byron's, but it's IMO.

The Last time I talked with Jared Tebo, he said he would be running the NEO '11 in buggy. As far as I know he still is running a 3-port with 2058 pipe.. Also the local pro here is running 3-port in buggy and truggy. The CRF versions really rip with a 2013 pipe.

Essentially you won't go wrong with either 3-port and the 2058 or 2013 pipe.

The difference between the 2 is pretty much just 3 ports for Neo and 5 ports for CK edition..

about 5 gallons seems to be the average.. Some go more some go less, it pretty much depends on the guy turning the screw driver.

No tips or tricks, break-in using heat cycle method, or very near it.. ABout 1/2 gallon in it shoul dbe just about ready for a race tune, just keep checking for pinch.. You might pick up a few #6 plugs if you race in temps abouve 75 degrees F..

yeah thanks
but the 5 port is 100 $ cheaper than the 3port

is it because the 3port is more popular?

think ill get the 3port with 2013 pipe and the 2058 pipe to try out? seems to be more popular...

can somebody explain the performance of the two engines?

5-ports are kind of bastard children. They work well, but don't do anythign spectacular.. 3 port nitro engines typically have excellent bottom end, and when timed and tuned right pull as hard and rev as high as a 5-port.. A 5 port typically won't have the bottom end of a 3 port, but will have a better mid and rev well.. The 2013 pipe will give a nice bottom end pop, but will fall just a bit short on top when compared to the 2058 pipe, how ever both pipes work very well on either the 3 port or the 5 port engine..

Just speaking hypothetically, but if I were able to get an Orion Discovery cheap, would it respond well to being modded?.. This would be basically for all-out power in a truggy, for only casual racing. Run-time, smooth power, etc.. are secondary..
