Comparing Motors
#1
I have a Associated B4.1 buggy kit I am building. My RTR buggy comes with a Reedy 3800kv motor. I would like this buggy I'm building to have a bit more power than the RTR. How does a 17.5 motor compare to the 3800kv?
What does the 17.5 mean? I was told that a 13.5 motor is pretty equivalent to the 3800kv motor.
Is there a more simple way of know the power of these motors since they use different terms in describing their power and size?

I guess to add to my original post I still have some questions.
What I am really looking for is this:
I run at a large outdoor clay track which has all sorts of jumps, turns and one long straight.
I am building a AE B4.1 kit and want a motor ESC combo which is faster but not killer faster than my current B4.1 RTR which has a Reedy brushless 3800kv motor.
I do not want to break the bank but am OK at spending $200-225 for the combo but I can't see spending the big bucks because this is a hobby and not life or death. I also want a motor that won't overheat or one that will drain a 5000 lipo in a few minutes.
I am considering a Castle or Reedy combo.....
A lot here to consider, any ideas?

Simple question, what's the gearing on the 3800kv now? Have you fiddled with different gearing to suit the conditions? I ask because the 3300kv in my SC10RS is plenty potent for most tracks, when geared right.
Certainly better motors are out there, but you might be able to make this one work for ~the cost of a pinion or two.
...Unless you've already explored that of course.

Finally spit the bucks for a new motor/esc combo.
Bought a Mamba Max Pro with NC1406 6900kv motor for my B4.1 2wd buggy.
Did I overdo it? I can tame this beast down with the ESC program from Castle.
How much more juice is the motor going to suck over the stock 3800kv?
