Default 1s lipo balancing

This goes to show how much of a newb I am about 1s lipo racing.

Noticed that there isn't any balance port on my lipo. Does that mean that 1s lipos don't need to be balanced?

This may be a stupid question but I thought I would ask.

Si... no balance needed. It is a single cell, remember... nothing to balance it to.

Actually, there are at least 2 cells in there but they are in parallel and thus self balance.

Hey Kelly, I remember. Chris and I have been racing each other since before ESCs I think. Of course being die hard, I used a resistor long after almost everyone else had switched.

Hi Lonny nice to see you. I too used the resister but then bought my first speed control by Tekin (Red sticker one not the gold sticker one) That is great you have carpet track there again. Is it in same RC store in tuscon? I have never had such a dialed car as I did there. Just got back from Norcal Hobbies in Union city and virtually 12th is dead there. There was this one guy today (RC125.1) that had some good skills and his car worked pretty good. Another nice guy named Josh and another guy (CRC new car) had 12th interest but since no one is running there wasn't a heat. Besides that we have Michael O'Donnell, Crashby and maybe Tim Copp I dunno so it doesn't seem 12th will be happening any time soon at Norcal

Also I think they run 13.5 and I can't really see myself not running mod ...lol Plus there seems to be need for two speedo's depending on what class is run .5 classes or mod

As sad as it sounds I guess I'll get a TC6 since the guys near my skills are running TC mod

I'll be getting the 4PL radio, probably run the Team Power stuff as this guy named Larry there is very good with motors

Otherwise probably a speed passion speedo

Things have really changed since 8 years ago. Lipo, Brushless, new speedo's
Also it seems most 12th have the side spring

Desert Rat seems like a cool guy to have racing with you and he clearly has the 12th scale DNA gene mutation...lol

How has your racing been? What car are you running? Let me know I wish you best of luck and tight lines

Take care

Kel

I alternate between a Serpent S120L and a BMI Copperhead 12. Really like the Serpent, very high quality and went well right out of the box, but the BMI is coming along. We run 13.5 boosted which is plenty fast for this old Fart. Have a Speed Passion V2.1 for 1S which works quite well. You might consider the GT2.0, it has the heat sink for TC mod. Most people are using LRP or Tekin. Keep after the 1/12TH, it almost died here, but we kept after it and are enjoying a nice comeback.

You gotta have some pics of that serpent and BMI correct ...lol

I will keep after the 12th it's my passion

I think this is what most fast TC mod guys use at Norcal

Not sure it will work for 17.5 if no mod guys are there but mod actually seems to be popular class

Look forward to seeing you at a race

Later

I see everything cool that you post or update ...lol

If I am honest i never really felt the tubes 12th cars

Remember the bolink or parma car that had one tube

Not this one I think maybe one of these and I used the body to the right

Those we're the days

Right now I would get the RC125.1 if 12th was a viable class here

I love Norcal it is such a cool track

Kevin is doing great

Are you at the IIC

Did you ever even play with the "shock" serpent car?

I liked it's look better although serpent made the decision to do tubes

I'm using the shock car, the tube car isn't out yet. The mono shock works great for me, but I run on a low to medium bite carpet. High bite seems to be the sticking point. That ESC you linked to is the one I use for 1/12TH. You'll need more cooling for TC.

Your like M. O'Donnell you have the nicect looking cars as I remember

Take a pic and share maybe

All I can say is that's the esc that TC mod guys use I'm pretty sure

They use 3.5, 4.0 turns with fan on esc

Default shelf queen

Glad to put a face to the name Infinite 12th at Norcal today. Yep 12th scale racing at Norcal is pretty sad sorry to say. I dont know why more people are not racing 12th scale it is such a fun class. But with all the BS of running mod or 17. 5 or 13.5 I dont know anymore. Like I said before there is at least 5 or 6 guys who have them that just dont run them. I'm getting pretty tired of waiting. I just want to race! So my 12th will go on the shelf until they decide or I get enough money to go mod sedan and use my electronics for that. Only time and my wallet will tell.
