What size carb inserts are you guys running in Lances Modded Argusus. The stock 8mm or are you dropping it to the 7mm. Im running a 7mm and getting 11 mins a tank in truggy. How much would I lose going to the 8mm.......

Rick, mine has the 8mm insert in it. Isn't that the way they come stock?

Yea, they come stock with an 8mm. I always run a 7mm in them because it makes it a little easier to tune and if its tuned right you can push 12 to 13 mins with this thing. Any 8mm I tried I could never trust going a 10 min heat without pitting. If you have any of your old 7mm B5 inserts bring them they work perfect in the Argus.

They actually tune very well with both the 7 and 8 mm venturis. You do gain about 45 sec in truggy with the 7mm but the 8mm gives more power and top end.

Also these engines like to run in the 250-260 range On a hot 90+ deg day race tuned. I see guys trying to keep them at 220 or so and ther runtimes and power is down big time. This engine has so much power that some people are leaving them on the rich side. But on an optimal tune with the proper temps thats where the mileage and rediculous power is at.

Thanks,
Lance

Sweet talk about fast service.By the way how should I break in the motor do I need to do it like a new engine or can I just run 2 to 3 tanks slightly rich and then start to lean it. Thanks for the speedy service.

Are you talking about the Argus or the B5 here, Lance?

Break in like it was new. Keep running break in tanks through it until you feel mechanical pinch go away. There is no magic formula. My Nova took 3 tanks to be ready for race tune and my B5 took 12 tanks before the pinch was gone. Its all according to how tight Lance pinched it. Make sure you heat it good to save the rod and keep running break in tanks until you feel it loosen up.

Yep, I was talkking about the Argus

And James is correct on the break in. Break it in like you would a new engine and go by how the metal pinch feels before you pushing it to hard. But dont rush it wait till it loosens up a bit before fully leaning it out and race tuning it.

Thanks,
Lance

Ok, you were talking about the Argus. Thanks for the reply. What's normal race tune temp for the B5?

Is this the same temp range for the stock motor as well?
