After a long 2 week wait my B5 pro and 2013 finally arrived in Australia.
Cant wait to get this motor broken in.
But i found an issue with the motor crank/drive shaft has gone rusty on the end, and has prob pitted.
Is this going to cause any long term problems or do i just sand/wire brush the rust off.
It was most disappointing to see my new pride and joy arrive in not so pristine cond.
Do i need to pull the motor down and look for any internal corrosion?
The motor is still sealed in it original packaging.
I'm not having a shot at Ron as the main reason I purchased a werks was because of the amazing customer support he offers.
tried to post some pics but didnt work

Those pics could be a little deceiving, but it looks to me that the rust on the end is more than just something superficial that you can wire brush off.
Could be wrong though since the pics aren't the clearest.

I ordered my new B5 engine and it will get here Thursday. I had a question about the pipe I will be running on it. I see most people are running a 2013 on it. I eventually plan on getting one, but my budget will not allow me to get one immediately. So for now, I will be running the JP-1 from Jammin that I have on my stock Losi 454 now. It's a brand new pipe with barely 5 tanks ran thru it. From what I understand, the JP1 is tuned to improve low end performance. Does anyone have any personal experience with this combo, or give me some idea how this pipe on a B5 will affect it's tuning and performance characteristics? I just don't wanna go into this combo completely blind, so I will be able to identify tuning issues with this specific pipe on the B5 and know if a problem occurs, or that's just how the engine should act with this pipe on it. Any info will be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

does not work for another guy. setups are the samething, i also have 2013 cause fellow racers said 2013 is the pipe to run, but for me jp1, i lke lots crispy bottom. sometimes its all in your finger on the trigger. you might have to lightn up in the clutch springs/ shoes. i also run losi truggy/buggy 2.0, both cars same b5 / jp1 pipe. bottom line to sport you have to be smooth on the finger. oh ya truggy 10 to 12 min run time /buggy some tracks 9 to 11 min. like i said before , train yourself to be smooth with trigger finger. one more thing, alum. pipes not the coated one ther is a diffrence in temps ,from to other

Maximo and 151 RCN,
Thanks guys, that is actually very good to hear! I love a great bottom end, even if it takes a little from the top! The track I run at has a bunch of large jumps right out of turns, so a snappy bottom is exactly what I look for foremost! The only place you really open up the throttle for more than a second is the one straightaway! Cool. Yeah, I think I will definately have to manipulate the trigger a lot softer than I am used to going from the Losi 454 to the B5. I think it will be a great upgrade to my truggy. Thanks guys! Two more days until I get to start breaking that bad boy in!!

sbv20j, it's hard to tell by looking at that picture what is going on so I'm not going to jump to conclusion like Mr Cruzer above. If you would please just clean up the tip of the crank and if there are any issues I'll take care of you.
Regards,
Ron

Quick question, can someone tell me what the part number is for the part that Losi came out with to ensure you get a better pull angle on your carb? I have ground my top diff plate down already to get a straighter pull, but it seems there may be a part out there to that will help.

Thanks Ron I will remove it from its packaging tonight when I get home and clean up the shaft.
I was hesitant to clean it up before in case it created warranty/return issues.
I will keep you posted on the results.
Cheers

No worries, anyone that has dealt with me knows that I'm pretty easy to deal with on stuff like this.
