Tolerences can only be so tight when you run an o-ring on a shaft IN a bushing, especially with stuff this small..
I did notice today that my ourdrive bearings were COMPLETLY dry, truck has 12 packs through it and has never seen water or an solvents on the bearings. These had the same "dry" sound sound when I pulled the diff out that you would get when you clean a bearing with motor spray and then spin it dry. Clean, no grit inside and no wear that I could tell but the were dry for sure...just something you guys might want to check..
These were my thoughts on the out drives...

So leave it alone until I find the issue major enough to repair ... not a bad thought at all. I just want to avoid wearing out something not cost effective and it cost me tons to repair.

I barely have a grip on my driving as it is LOL but I am someone that likes to have the best gear
Yeah its gonna depend on price tag for me..... If tekin raises their prices like castle did then I'll be perf. fine with my 1410 and sc4x lol...

IMO, I don't really see anyway to fix the issue, if it really is one, with the design they have; o-ringed shaft inside of a bushing. I'm guessing that a new truck is going to have the same wobble right out of the box, might be SLIGHTLY less but still there..

All prices on motors have gone up at least 40 bucks already.

Still cheaper than dealing with brushed motors for sure, and I'm not sure a brushed motor would deliver the power and performance we get....I'll pay more but it still sucks..

Between batts and motors it's still cheaper than even 5-6 years ago..

I will make a phone call today and find out if this is going to effect all the motor manufactures. China holds a monopoly on the magnets... If the motors are not made in China the prices shouldn't be headed north.

China has cornered the market on the main ingredient for the magnets,, Neodymium.

Just throwing this out there, but maybe the outdrive wobble is there as a cushion? If they built it solid, would we break more outdrives and dif gears?

I would rather replace a part as it wears out than have something snap in the middle of a race day...

Good point, mine wobble as well but haven't noticed any performance issues stemming from the wobble, mine has been running just fine

Default Agree.... But...

I agree with you that the Tekin motors are pretty good but I have to be honest and tell you that if you have not tried one of the D3 550 motors... You are really missing out! I am running the 4.5 and have a 3.5 and 2.5 on order. The power is great and they run cool just like the 540 version. The 4.5 is already more power than I can put down and the 3.5 and 2.5 are just going to be silly!

So, the outdrives wobble, and the problem is.....???
Im not trying to be an a-hole.

anyhow, I tried the LRP 5.5T 550/MMP today and it was smooth as silk. 14/62 I added a little boost and it felt pretty good, after 10 mins it temped @170. It definatly had much less punch than my old castle, but felt easyer to drive.
