Serpent 811E Buggy Thread

I'm coming from Xray but had troubles with the bearings, does the S811 have the same problems?

I know my friend goes through bearings on his Serpent faster than I do. I've seen his wheel bearings create quite a bit of slop fairly quickly and that's with Avid bearings. I use Avids too and don't have them get sloppy on me like that, I can run them for 2 or 3 months before needing to change.
I think there's a couple of reasons for this though. He runs the Serpent aluminum hubs all the way around so much more force is transferred directly to the bearings when he hits something due to the lack of flex. He's also a first year racer and was hitting the pipe and wrecking a lot until lately. His driving has really started to come around.
Another issue with the aluminum hubs is that Serpent doesn't use any sort of sleeve for the bearings. You have aluminum mated directly with the steel surface of the bearing and they are very hard to get out as a result. Xray uses a thin plastic sleeve over the bearing for their aluminum hubs. This prevents the issues created from 2 dissimilar metals being in direct contact with each other.

I go through outer wheel bearings in my 811 pretty regularly, but it's mostly because I hit stuff.
If I don't remember to put grease on the bearings before I put them in the hubs, they are a bitch to get out.
Those are the only bearings I lose with any regularity. As long as I change them when I see them starting to get loose, it's fine.
I have lost other bearings, but nothing consistent. A diff bearing or two and I think I lost one outdrive bearing a long time ago.

Second, the weight of the motor will be very well balanced by the servo and ESC. The motor sits in closer to the center of the car, while the servo and ESC are farther out on the edge of the chassis. Your buggy in the pic will be light on the right front, as only the servo sits there, versus the heavy battery on the left front.
The hinged battery hold down are trick as hell, as long as they don't crack under hard impacts/upside down landings. Can't wait to get one!

I've been out of the 1/8th scale stuff for about 5 years now. was racing the Kanai 3's when I left.....so things have changed quite a bit.
Are most of the bearings in the wheel hubs and F/R/C diff housing in these newer 1/8 buggies still using the standard 8X16mm bearings like the older Mugens and Kyoshos.....or did all those change over time.
man....there is a lot of new gen buggies out now days.....sheeesh!

Has someone any idea of the size of the battery trays on the S811-E?
I don't know if some of you have converted S811 already but I would be interested in the size of the RC monster battery tray also. I need to check if my lipos would fit

Perfect, I would be able to use my 2s lipos from my 1/10. S811 will be an awesome reason for 1/10 buggy drivers to try the 1/8 brushless. I'm convinced this particular car will be the real start of the battle in this category

Do not think that e-Serpent will be with low price. And do not think that parts will have low prices to...
Interesting is it comes with CF shock towers as I know that my colleague broke them in no time on nitro version...
