) Four on the top, four on the bottom

IDK what that connector is called , but it isn't a standard "tamiya"
I can guess what your questions are , but would be best if you listed them specifically.
The capacity can be anything , the pack won't "overpower" if the voltages are the same , there's not much practical difference between NIcad and Nimh.

Just a guess, but I think it has the same type connector shown here -

CBP assembles packs with this connector and they call it HPI Small Female connector -

Another thing to consider is heat. I see many people burning up motors because they are running them for extended periods of time without rest. Right now the car you are looking at is using a 900Mah battery. If you bump that up to say a 3000Mah battery, the motor is going to be heavily strained and will more than likely fail. Because of the type of car you are buying, replacing it may not be easy or even an option. When I started out in RC, batteries were in the 1200Mah range and I only had one. I would run for 15 mins, charge for 45 and run for 15 mins again. This cool down cycle is what allowed my car to last for a long time. With today's battery technology, this cool down cycle is being neglected and motors and other electronics are paying the price.

One other thing to try is to ask Jang over at ultimaterc.com, he reviews all kinds of toy-class RCs including several Maisto cars and trucks
or try asking on rcuniverse.com, I have seen some threads over there about the toy-class cars
Not trying to be rude or run you off, but not many people here are going to have used one of these types of RCs and know the exact answers you are looking for.

Thanks for info... And I will try contacting Jang.
