Lipo Storage
#1
My old Venom Pro charger used to discharge batteries down to 3.8V/cell when storage was selected. I've got some 4S lipos that I didn't get to use on the weekend and wont be using them for a fortnight.
When I put them on my new Team Orion Advantage Race Spec for storage it says "storage complete" even though they are still 4.2V/cell. Is it ok for them to be stored at such voltage? I would have thought if they needed to be discharged to ~3.8V that a charger of this quality would have it built in, so it makes me wonder if it's necessary...

I always store my lipo's at 3.86v-3.87v per cell if they arent going to be used for more than two days. Ive read where people keep there lipos fully charged and have no problems and when I first got into lipo I did too. There was never a problem, but better safe than sorry. Those recommendations are made for reason.

Some chargers will only charge up to storage voltage in storage mode
Most people run their packs down before putting them into storage
Some will either discharge or charge based on voltage in storage mode
Manually discharge them down to 3.85v / cell if you dont have a storage mode that discharges them
Cheers

Seems like that charger makes an assumption that you will use the lipo storage mode coming from a lower voltage, not from a higher voltage - this is from pg 25 -
"With LiPo and LiFe batteries, the battery will be recharged and balanced to 3.85V/cell for LiPo and 3.3V/cell for LiFe. If the voltage is above 3.85V/cell for LiPo and 3.3V/cell for LiFe, the storage charge will stop as there is enough energy stored inside the batteries for a safe storage."
Haven't seen that before.....
